For those alumni on the board with college bound or recent college kids, I’m curious about experiences with applying to NU. My wife and I are both alums, and her entire immediate family went to NU. Our son is now looking at colleges. I feel out of touch looking at the numbers - NU acceptance rates about 1/4 of what they were when I git accepted 25+ yrs ago, and median test scores are near-perfect. Even as a straight A student with strong extracurriculars, I feel the chances are discouragingly slim if accomplishments aren’t over the top like starting your own nonprofit, national science or arts awards, etc. Thoughts?
