OT: Ole Miss Job Opening

Hugh Freeze resigned tonight. Made at least 1 phone call to an escort service. The University uncovered a pattern of behavior "not consistent with our core values". Head Coach soliciting hookers? Looks like it. SEC at its finest!

There is a cesspool in Oxford MS.

You could see this one coming. There was just too much going on in Oxford. Though it seems like there was more to it than just that escort call...

"If I was trying to hide something, I would have" is probably not the best response when ones integrity and morality are being questioned.

They needed a reason that would not have their boosters screaming for their heads for getting rid of a winning coach. Moral issues works for that.

They fired him without any buy-out or severance, citing the "moral turpitude" clause in his contract. Must have a pretty good case to believe he won't win a lawsuit against them.

And I really doubt any SEC fan cares one whit about moral issues. Just win, baby......beat Bama in back to back seasons and we'll call the hookers for you!

HaHaHa!!!!!!!!

I guess that isn't what did him in. Read report that based on the duration of that call, and the fact that it wasn't repeated, they buy it was likely a misdial. However, in their review of all those numbers, they found a 'pattern' of badness somehow.

Here's my question. As I understand it, it was the former HC's lawyer, who alerted Miss to the call to the escort service. WTF!?! How does McNutt's lawyer have access to Freeze's phone records in the first place?

Houston Nutt is suing Ole Miss for saying that all of the recruiting issues with the NCAA are from his tenure and that very few and only minor ones are from Freeze's time there. As part of the suit, they requested the phone records.

They were looking for proof that either Freeze was the responsible party for the recruiting violations or that Freeze had deliberately lied about this issue. They found the escort service.

If Nick Saban was stumpbreaking cattle, the Alabama faithful would look the other way. But when you are about to get hit with massive recruiting violations and the recruiting is falling off and the wins are going down, then a good moral issue is just what the doctor ordered - even if the coach is winning more than previous coaches.

I will admit that the administration jumping on it so they could use the morale turpitude stipulation of the contract probably is the more accurate reason why they ignored everything else and went for this one.

It was a university issued cell phone, not a personal one. Public university, probably subject to freedom of information act request for information.

250 Million phone numbers in the US and he just happens to misdial a hooker? Sounds reasonable to me.......
Not quite that bad. If you are in a given AC and dealing with a certain prefix it drops it to 10K . Add a couple other digits and the potential numbers drop pretty quickly. .

A call that may or may not have been intentionally placed does him in...but all the pending NCAA violations...nothing to see there...

I can almost guarantee it wasn't just one call. No one walks away from a $4 Million job without severance for a single call. There must have been a bunch of bad stuff there......

Agree and I predicted awhile back that when Ole Miss. started getting a bunch of 4* recruits from places not usually associated with their normal recruiting areas, that the NCAA would soon be calling.

Stumpbreaking cattle? Never heard that before, and based on the context I'm afraid to google it.
And well you should be, Yankeeboy. :)

A cow is stumpbroke when it is trained to remain in place with its derriere next to the stump that the stumpbreaker in question is standing on.

So we get Glades to stand there and the cattle think he is a stump and stand there?

What type of escort service was it?? To quote a former Louisiana Governor discussing his re-election odds "The only way I can lose is if I am caught in bed with a live boy or a dead girl".

What the stumpbreaker is doing while standing on the stump next to the rear of the cow is left to your imagination.

I am simply providing the definition of the phrase.

Hugh Freeze was Michael Oher's high school coach in The Blind Side, and also in real life.

That quite a rise, and a fairly quick fall.

He must not have been born and raised in a dairy state.

Not my point...I honestly don't care who Hugh Freeze is banging, whether it's his wife or a call girl or a male prostitute...but I totally resent that the sports media is falling over itself covering this and the routine "coaching carousel" BS when the head coach in question is embroiled in an actual SPORTS scandal that has made Ole Miss a top program for the past few years. But hey, I get it, cheating in college athletics is old news...and once again proves that cheating is worth it every single time in college football.
