There are only six Big Ten schools that have women's lacrosse teams - NU, Rutgers, Maryland, Penn State, Ohio State, Michigan - and John's Hopkins. Given Title IX and the requirement to balance male/female participation, it would seem like there would be more teams. I know the sport's roots are East Coast/NY/NJ/MD, but the sport has developed at schools such as Stanford and the University of Denver along with plenty of other schools at all levels. Schools like Nebraska are hyper focused on women's sports but even they don't field a team. Thoughts? It would be great if the Big Ten fielded a complete compliment of teams. Need to look up whether there are teams at the new ex-Pac XII teams coming on.
