NU didn’t shoot nearly well enough & I’m concerned about some of the guys’ performances this season. But this is a really awful way to lose:

Geez, that’s a really awful call on the four-point play. Such a heady play by the veteran to not be rewarded.

I think you’re wrong @evanston09. Brooks anticipated the contact in a way that most don’t. He deserved the call.

It wasn’t the refs that caused Leach and Martinelli to shoot 22%. Darnit.

Its not the right call but it gets call that gets made every single time on this play.
Yeah this exact play happens dozens of times a year and the shot is never granted. Not saying it’s right but it just is what it is.

Question. Was that the shot he was going to take if no foul was given? He was going up from there with that amount of time left and then the guy fouled him during the shot?

Or did he go up when he felt the foul given?

It was a great play on his part. I would have given it to him based on that alone. Lol

But they never call continuation at this level.

Yes, because he was already in his motion. He saw the foul coming and committed to the shot. The ref wrongly anticipated the call, rather than making the call in front of him.

If the Butler player decides not to touch him, that ball is 100% still going up, or he’s getting called for a travel.

This is exactly right. 10/10 no notes.

We have all seen a player go up to shoot and pass it instead. There is an argument he gambled and if the foul does not happen he corrects to a pass.

I was watching the game with a Gophers fan who thought the right call was to concede the basket. I was the one convinced that, being college ball, they were going to consider the shooting motion continuation.
