Moreover, coming after palindromic scores of 32-23 and 63-36 earlier in the contest, no less. Raise your hand if you’ve ever been on the winning side in a game featuring THREE palindromic scores. Anyone?
I sensed the third leg of the palindrome trifecta at 72-44. They need 3 and we need 2.
A Minnesota lay-in plus the “and one” free throw lifts the Gooofs to the all-important 47. Excellent work.
And then we look "magic moment time" right in the eye; we just need a 2. Do NOT hit a three, boys.
Demps brings it up the right side, and flips it over to Mac who is coming out towards him. Dibbles, and then Bryan turns it over to Falzon out high left. Guarded, he finds Olah open on the high right in the spot just vacated by BMac, and Alex dribbles twice to connect up with Mac who is looping back out from under the basket on the right side.
Darting around a pick by AO he curls into the paint with the ball and picks it up with a foot on the G in “BIG”. A no hesitation pass goes over to Falzon who is wide open and backing across the 3 point line in the left corner. NOOO, not NOW, Aaron. Chill, man, we don’t need a three NOW; save it.
He hears me and shoots a little pass to Demps who is going into one of those “watch me cruise right into three defenders” hell-bent lunging thrusts toward the basket from around the 8 o’clock position. And, wonder of wonders, Alex with the key move of the sequence gives it up to a beckoning Skelly whose man has left him to block the inevitable Demps floater. And that’s it. With 5:41 left, Skelly has gathered and guided the ball in for the 74-47 palindrome-clinching bunny.
How wonderful was that?
Could it have been any better? Well, barely. If it had come with 5:45 left on the clock, I suppose. But that’s just a nit.
