To beat UT will, IMO , be tough in any event, but it will be impossible without at least a decent passing game.
NU almost beat Auburn ( down by 2 scores twice ) because Kafka had a career day with a number of good possession receivers and lots of vertical passes. Vs Miss. St., NU QBs did not have their best day ever, but did pass for almost 200 yards.
So, question : in one month, how can NU improve the passing game to make it viable enough that UT can not load the box each and every play? Could McCall or Fitz bring in some supplementary WR coaching assistance during this time? Should receivers be taking many more reps than normal during practices? Should NU be practicing more play action passes and changing up play calling ( eg more passing on first downs )? What can and should be done here?
