The Cats had already struck to open the second half by adding 7 points to the 3 of the first. Arguably, however, it was the red zone turnover consequent from Gaziano's stripping the ball from the Utah Quarterback Jason Shelley, followed by McGee's scooping up the loose ball and taking it the distance 82 yards for the fumble return that was the game changing play of the Holiday Bowl. Not only did it squelch an all but certain additional score by the Utes, but it brought the Cats within one score and at the same time set a new Holiday Bowl record for a fumble return.
