Just some things I personally enjoyed from that press conference. First, Collins’ humor after an emotional win was top-notch. Now, I’ll be honest, my initial take was to start Ty with a short leash, but Coach Collins knows these guys better than anyone. He’s got a pulse on this team, and I’ll always defer to his judgment. Even when Ty’s shot isn’t falling, he’s still playing smart basketball, and teams still respect his three-point range. When that shot starts dropping, though? This team’s a different animal.
And the shoutout to Brian James again. We’ve heard it a lot, but those drawn-up plays, especially in key moments, make a difference. Let’s not forget the talk about the basketball gods. Tough calls at the end of multiple games, sure, but it’s part of the game. You gotta keep your head and trust the process. Now, I can’t leave out the Twitter drama before the game. When it came up, it had Brooks and Martinelli cracking up.
Lastly, Brooks talked about the frustration of his freshman year. He was hurt, struggling with his minutes, but he didn’t quit. He kept working, talked it out with BMac, and now he’s an All-B1G caliber player. That grind-it-out mentality is the backbone of this team. They don’t quit, they don’t back down, and they play HARD.
Great win last night. Keep that fire burning. Go Cats!
