...since the first was hijacked by our free board trolls)

Given that we are probably at a bit of a pause as many of our recruits have either committed or will likely not be deciding for a while, thought I would start a thread on predictions for our class.

Before I start - one very important note. Given the way recruiting is today, I can almost guarantee that we are not going to see all 12 commits we have today to the finish line. So I would not get too attached to anyone.

Also, this is limited to those that I think we actually have a shot at. Therefore, guys like Kareem and others are not included.

And one more note: the only other thing I can guarantee is that I am wrong on most of this, as things change so quickly, we have decommits, etc.

QB

Total Need: 1
Commited: 1 (Smith)
Others in play: None
Notes: We are likely done recruiting for this position

RB

Total need: 1-2
Committed: 1 (Brown)
Others in play: Bryant, Nwangwu, Taylor
Prediction: Bryant

Notes: Like Bryant, but as another poster (GCG?) stated Nwangwu is an unknown. Either way, I think we land one of these two.

6/22 update: Nothing has changed. Bryant took a trip to Vandy, but still have a good feeling about him.

7/1 update: Brown's commit was surprising, but liked his tape. Still think we have room for one more. Expect Bryant to make a decision soon (would be surprised if not us). A bit surprised that we are hearing nothing out of Nwangwu, know nothing on him other than he has some good offers.

WR

Total need: likely 3
Committed: 3 (Lees, Skowronek, Bowman)
Others in play: None
Prediction: Likely done at this position

Notes: I am pessimistic on Stewart given his love of Mich – feels like Perry waiting for an offer - and it sounds like Skanes is growing less interested (and when he didn’t commit right away, I felt like we didn’t have as much of a shot as I originally thought). I don’t know much of Benson, but I do think Rugamba is going to be our final commit. My understanding is that he is very interested in the school + proximity and we have a very good shot if we offer (meaning his speed is where we need it to be).

6/22 update: Removed Stewart as with his Stanford offer I don't think we have a shot.

7/1 update: Looks like Rugamba did not get the scores back in time, or NU had another player in front, but welcome Bowman (Ram-Bo) to the team! He needs to up the speed a bit, but like him as a (6' 3''!) slot receiver

TE/SB

Total need: 1
Committed: Eshoo
Others in play: None
Prediction: We are likely done at this position

Notes: Not optimistic of any of our outstanding offers right now. Think we will likely need a “Y”, though Skowonek may be able to bulk up and play this position (unlikely though). Think our commit is going to be someone not offered just yet.

6/22 update: Think it is going to be Eshoo. Like Aucoin, but think it will be difficult to get him out of the South.

7/1 update: It was Eshoo. We are likely done and can focus on Kmet (whom we have a great shot with)

OL

Total need: 4
Committed 4 (Urban, Meyler, Kolwich, Vogel)
Others in play: We are likely done at this position, for now
Prediction: I would be surprised if we hold on to all four of these prospects (particularly concerned re: Kolwich or Vogel, given Kolwich’s prior statements or a Vogel being late-bloomer that has to rush a commit). If I were Fitz, I would be keeping relationships warm...

DL

Total need: 4
Committed 3 (Carnifax, Miller, Saunders)
Some others in play: Udeogu (no offer), Oliver (unlikely given Rutgers lean), Paul, Swann
Prediction: Udeogu

Notes: We definitely need another big body in the middle, though truthfully I think that person is not offered yet. Would love to see us build some depth in this class though. No shot with Camp, Kareem, etc).

6/22 update: removed Onwuzurike (we are not in his top-10). Was right on Saunders, which may mean Swann may not be in play, given our need for DEs.

7/1 update: No additional information that would change my mind. Removed Rainey (Tulane). Still no offer for Udeogu. Unsure if Swann in play or not still (not sure if he can slide outside)

LB

Total need: 2-3
Committed: 2 (Glackin, Fisher)
Others in play: Colacion
Prediction: None

Notes: The longer Wisconsin’s class takes to fill, the more desperate they will get, and go after Grady. Quansah/Eifler/others are out. Of the remaining four I identified, I think we have a shot, but not a great shot, with all of them.

A quick note re: Katy trio – I hope we land them all, but I would not be surprised if they will be splitting up as classes are getting fuller. I think Wisconsin is the likely destination, but would love to be wrong.

6/22 update: Niemann and Grady off the board (but was pessimistic of our chances of landing Grady as mentioned above, though still bummed). Starting to feel better about the Katy trio, was wrong on Wisky. Believe it will either be Fisher or someone not yet offered. Still am pessimistic about getting Gagnon out of the south, but hope I am wrong. Liked his tape.

7/1 update: Looks like I was on - Gagnon went to Duke and Fisher came to us. Prior prediction (Likely one more not offered yet, but now thinking it may be Fisher (lets get Whillock to commit soon to start the dominos)) was backwards though. Not optimistic about Colacion - would be surprised if he left the west. Removed Carmouche (likely Texas). Think we are done here, but may take a best available (Colacion) if he decides.

DB

Total need: 4
Committed: 3 (Campbell, Bullock, Whillock)
Others in play: Wide open. Okeke, McCloud, Tolliver, Winfield. Need one safety.
Prediction: McCloud or one other that has not been offered yet.

Notes: I don’t have any info on Tolliver and Winfield, and think we have little-to-no shot at Sylvie and Okeke.

6/22 update: Assuming Wisky said no room for Whillock (only Wilder) which is why he started focusing on us. McCloud has a couple new offers, but a very quiet recruitment - though not a good sign he has sat on our offer for so long. We still need two here, likely safeties.

7/1 update: Welcome aboard Whillock! Room for one more safety - will go with McCloud, but really have no idea.

Specialists

Total need: 1
Committed: 0
Others in play: None
Prediction: none, or one not offered yet

Notes: Was optimistic about Gillikin earlier, but his return trip to Penn State makes me feel like we are going to be left out. Let’s hope our 65-yard placekicker (off a tee, low angle, no rush, but who’s counting) can replicate in a game.

6/22 update: looks like I was right on Penn State (never a good sign when a recruit wants to bring his mom for a visit). Have no idea who we are going to target next here.

7/1 update: nothing changed

-------------------------------------------

So (just in case TL/DR) whom I think will commit (assuming 22 spots by my count)

19. Bryant (RB)

20. Udeogu (DE)

21. McCloud (DB) or unknown (DB) - just a wild guess based on nothing, but would like one more safety

22. Unknown specialist/best available

Now that we are up to 18, we have to do two things - 1) Focus on 2017 and 2) start holding on to our high risk guys (Katy duo, our OL).
