RoCamp Named First Team All Metro

Accolades keep pouring in for Roderick Campbell. No shock that he was named to the St Louis All Metro team. My expectation is that he also gets All State.

USA TODAY High School Sports is proud to announce the 2015 American Family Insurance ALL-USA Missouri Football Team. Players were selected based on their athletic achievements from the 2015-16 season.

COACH OF THE YEAR: Ryan Schartz, Fort Osage (Independence)

In his 11th year at the helm, Schartz brought Fort Osage full circle with a Class 5 state championship this fall. He inherited a team on a 19-game losing streak in 2002, and the rebuilding process culminated this season with 13-1 championship campaign.

OFFENSE

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Skylar Thompson, Fort Osage (Independence)

Thompson steamrolled the competition this fall, piling up 3,204 combined yards (2,112 passing and 1,092 rushing) and 44 touchdowns as a dual-threat quarterback. The Kansas State recruit accounted for a state-title game record 455 total yards and seven scores in a 63-28 romp over Chaminade to claim the Class 5 crown.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Adam Cofield, Blue Springs South (Blue Springs)

Cofield was a major key to Blue Springs South’s victory over Christian Brothers in the Class 6 state championship game, recording three sacks and nine tackles in a 37-28 win. He finished his season with 86 tackles and 13 tackles for loss.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I didn't get to meet Rod but I met his parents and they were really great people.
