Man, look at this roster and reflect a moment. I'd argue that there is not a single player on this entire team that wouldn't start for any pre-Collins team since Baldwin and Rankin graduated, especially if Ash has indeed made the leaps that people have talked about. And Rothstein's report on Gaines and Pardon (and to a lesser extent Falzon, only because I think he's just saying what we all already knew about him). Man, Pardon as one of the premier bigs in the B1G? A key offensive option?

Hell, our 2nd to last guy on the bench could very well be a 4 star recruit from 2 years ago (I'm talking Rap). We may not have any All-Americans on this team, but the depth is ridiculous.

True. NU has 11-12 B1G-quality players for the first time since....like, ever.

Excited about the depth. I have to admit that I was hoping to hear more positive things about Rap as I really liked what his HS tape showed.

No one has seen any of the players play. I would wait until after the October 20th scrimmage at least to say whether a player like Rap is developing or not. Where were the reports about Ash coming from and what were the reports? I think that Rothstein's report that Gaines can play both PG and SG or is a combo guard might limit Ash's minutes even more.

The depth is going to be key this year more than ever, given the condensed schedule early on in the season.

Still a little concerned about Brown and Ash behind BMac, but sounds like he's in the best condition of his college career, so he can probably just go 35 minutes a game again.

If NU is as deep as it appears, I hope CC uses the entire roster to increase end to end defensive pressure. Having someone in your face for 40 minutes will frustrate many teams, shorten the shot clock and possibly get some points off cheap turnovers

I posted mid summer that Ash's offseason was off the charts because he was pissed about playing time. That came from inside the program.

I think Haywood posted something similar, IIRC.

Doesn't mean he's going to play more.

I just hope that when he does play, he kicks some ass and gets more time to play as a result.
