Right? Right?

Clemson won 10 games exactly zero times in the 17 years preceding his arrival. He's now won ten games six years in a row, and is 60-9 over the last five seasons. (Ten wins isn't what it used to be - but they had won nine games only five times in those 17 years. They were a perfectly good program, never a contender.)

He's built a great program, he's recruited like a champ (he is a champ), and he's got the best facilities in the country coming. They're joining Alabama, permanently.

Yep. Hard to come up with anyone else. Harbaugh ain't got no rings. Stoops looks like a one hit wonder. So does Fisher. No one else is even close. Except my favourite head ball coach Pat Fitzgerald.

The only other two active coaches with national championship rings are Jimbo Fisher and Bob Stoops. Over the past 5 years:

Fisher: 59-9 (34-6 ACC), 1 national title, 3 ACC titles, 5 BCS/NY6 bowls
Meyer: 61-6 (39-2 B1G), 1 national title, 1 B1G title*, 4 BCS/NY6 bowls*
Saban: 64-7 (36-4 SEC), 2 national titles, 4 SEC titles, 5 BCS/NY6 bowls
Stoops: 51-14 (37-8 Big XII), 0 national titles, 3 Big XII titles, 4 BCS/NY6 bowls
Swinney: 60-9 (35-5 ACC), 1 national title, 2 ACC titles, 3 BCS/NY6 bowls

*Ohio State ineligible for postseason in Meyer's first year

Stoops is the odd one out over the past 5 years, but Fisher, Swinney, and Meyer are basically on level ground right now with Saban on top of the list.

Steve Fisher and Ray Meyer? Sheryl Swoopes? What about Coach K and the General - Robert Montgomery Knight? What does this thread have to do with NU basketball?

Where's "he who chats with himself" when you need him?

Well, well, well, don't *you* look delusional now? :)

(Posted in the wrong board. Apologies for that cognitive dissonance. I'm a Bill Self guy, anyway. Thanks to the mods for their help.)

This is a wild fact.

Re: your analysis - probably okay to include Jimbo up there, but I really Clemson asserting itself in that league, which, because the acc lacks depth, likely leaves FSU out of the playoff *always*. (Not always, but frequently.)

Frankly, Jameis at FSU feels a lot like Cam at Auburn - lightning in a bottle, but not sustainable.

(Hey! Malzahn won that title, didn't he?)

You could suggest the same thing about Watson at Clemson, to be fair.

Part of the reason Stoops is out is playing in Big 12 with no championship game and weaker schedules has left them out of the mix recently
