It's tough to help someone who gets beat by their man every time down the floor. Ash had a night to forget...
HOT TAKES:
McIntosh vastly makes up for his negatives but his lack of athleticism makes him look like hes playing in slow motion at times and puts a bottle neck on the offense
Benson is SOFT. and not much improved skill wise. struggles to rebound.
Skelly, bless his heart cause he tries and can pass a little also SOFT
They've been in foul trouble early in many games this year and its due to their inability to impose themsleves on defense, reacting to everything instead of being aggressive. Illini were physical on defense the whole game but on the other side any drive they had resulted in fts. Playing Ash helps remedy this
When we cant impose on defense, easy buckets our fouls results in the players getting the deer in a headlight look and they go on 5 minute streaks of not having the confidence to make a shot.
They need an emotional leader to replace Sanjay. They talk too much and point fingers. Sanjay would take control and remind everyone to focus on the game and create energy plays resulting in momentum and confidence
