This seems to be the first time anyone has projected Northwestern to the January 2nd TaxSlayer (Gator) Bowl Game.

Their writer sees Wisconsin going back to the Outback despite the no repeat "rule" and Penn State getting the Holiday Bowl. Interestingly no B1G team is slotted for Music City but the writer has Minnesota going to the Pinstripe and Indiana headed to the Foster Farms Bowl.

Ohio State slips down to the Citrus and the three B1G teams that make the New Year's Six bowls are Michigan State (semifinal) and Michigan and Iowa.

So this means SI calls for us to lose to Illinois. They predict a MSU win over PSU. The Holiday Bowl like the Citrus(Capital One) was always a great second tier game. A 7-5 PSU jumps a 10-2 NU. That would be sad. I think the Holiday is the higher Bowl. Wow what an opponent if it is LSU. Ugly match-ups for the big... Minny and IU would both lose. Plus Minny is not bowl eligible if they lose to Wisconsin so this predicts a Minny upset over the Badgers which at 8-4 jumps us for the Outback. This list needs some work... we'll see in 2 weeks.

Ole Miss in the Citrus would be the ideal game...Need a Michigan Loss for that to happen, We will be the 10 win team although UM would probably jump us w/ 9 wins. If we play Tenn they bring a ton of fans.. Their match up is well attended.

This is pretty absurd because the Outback would not want Wisconsin again. I think everyone agrees that we will go to either the Outback or the Holiday bowls, unless we make a New Year's Six game.

They really don't have a clue, do they?

No way Wisconsin goes to the Outback, and no way Penn State jumps us to go to the Holiday.

No, they have us *beating* Illinois -- because Illinois is not listed as going to a bowl game -- and then have a 7-5 PSU jumping 10-2 NU to go to the Holiday Bowl. My kid's dog could come up with a better bowl projection than this.

They probably have the kids at InsideNU doing their picks....

Interestingly no B1G team is slotted for Music City

Music City and Tax Slayer share a pick between BIG and ACC, so one gets a BIG team and one gets an ACC team each year. Each game takes three teams from each conference over the six year contract. Music City took ACC last year, so they might be expected to go BIG this year, or not.

I think if Iowa, Michigan State, and tOSU all win this weekend (a few upsets in other conferences might help, too), we can punch our ticket for Tampa or perhaps even Orlando.

FWIW, "the kids at InsideNU" also had Wisconsin going to the Outback.

Quote from the linked article in the Madison, WI newspaper:"The Badgers can’t go to the Outback because they played in it last year". I tend to think those guys know what they're talking about.

Article also points out that 8 of Wisky's last 11 bowl games have been in the state of Florida, and that the BIG would -- in keeping with the new bowl selection rules, which are supposed to generate more diversity in bowl destinations -- like to send them somewhere else.

Also, it's interesting that if you go to the Outback Bowl website, they have a collage picture of 4 BIG football players and 4 SEC football players. The four BIG teams represented are NU, UMich, MSU, and PSU -- no Wisky.

By CONTRACT, Wisconsin can not play in the Outback Bowl this season. I'm not sure why this is even a point of discussion.

I don't see how Penn State jumps us either and I have not heard any local interest in Penn State in the Holiday Bowl, but have seen statements by Holiday Bowl officials scouting us and showing interest in us.

Indiana vs. Oregon? A team that's won one game in the B1G matched up against a top 25 team? These are the kind of matchups that screw up your conference's bowl record. Might be a fun one to watch, though, as there probably would be 130 points scored.

Pa- it might be a high scoring game but with supposedly more flexibility in assigning bowl slots don't you think there will be more effort by the BigTen to place BT teams in the best positions to win bowl games to maximize the BT brand? I don't think a matchup with Indiana and Oregon makes sense in that regard but an Oregon matchup with us makes more sense.
