ND has “ample time to act” and is waiting for the landscape to settle.

likely meaning: they’re not going anywhere for a while. And we’ll be stuck with this weird B1G-LA hybrid for a few years.

I say move on from them. Otherwise they always will be holding The B1G hostage. I have always thought they belong in The B1G. Let them go to another conference. Furthermore if they do I hope The B1G doesn’t assure any rivalry games. Eff em!

better than having them as a conference mate.

Does it make sense to add anyone else?

Can we prove that any additional schools aside from ND will come close to justifying the annual $80M payout that each would receive?

Do USC & UCLA both add that much to the conference’s coffers?

Hostage? How in the name of all that is good and holy is the Big 10 being held hostage? Is someone tied up in the basement? Did ND plant a bomb somewhere into the Big 10’s super-secret office complex? Did a leprechaun sneak some itch powder into our collective shorts?

The Big 10 is free to do what it will do.

if you are still taking what ADs and school administrators say at face value through this process, i feel like you haven't been paying attention for the last decade. almost no one is going to outwardly say that they are considering moving until after they move.

that doesn't mean that ND will move now or even soon, but i'm pretty sure that if Swarbrick was seriously considering it (or even actively in negotiations - which is unlikely), he would not go out and tell the media publicly.

for context just look at the sequence of comments (before and after) for every pro golfer that ended up joining LIV.......

Yes, USC and UCLA add so much that they won't have to buy in to the TV deals.

BTN and main TV deals will increase more than just covering 2 added pieces of the lie.

Maryland, Nebraska, and Rutgers each gave up 10s of millions in revenue compared to the full shares the rest of the conference was getting over the past decade.

I'd estimate Maryland received $70 million less, Nebraska received $100 million less, Rutgers received $200 million less during their buy in periods.

USC and UCLA are adding so much (by bringing LA/Cali into the footprint for BTN and the added $ to the main deal) that they will get full shares from day 1.

As far as adding others, I think only a combination of something like UNC+UVA works or something similar.

Nothing really surprising.

Figured the Domers were going to hang on to independent status as long as they can - which is basically as long as the ACC sticks together and as long as their new TV deal isn't completely dwarfed by what each B1G school will get.

ESPN is in no hurry to see the demise of the ACC as it's currently constructed as they control the rights for the next 14 yrs at what is now a bargain rate, and they probably don't want to see FS1 gain the rights to the UNC-Dook rivalry.

Here's a good article on the how the ACC got the conference expansion/raiding ball running...

While the ACC pursued expansion in 2003, it was the financial envy of its peers. The conference during the 2002-03 fiscal year disbursed an average of almost $11 million to its nine members — about a million dollars more than the Big Ten awarded its schools and about $1.5 million more than the SEC gave to theirs. At the time, the ACC’s basketball television rights were among the most valuable of any college sports property. Yet Swofford anticipated, correctly, that the economics of major college athletics were about to change. The SEC had been a 12-team league since 1991, allowing it to hold a lucrative football championship game.

“I feel really badly for Jim Phillips,” he [Tranghese] said, speaking of the ACC Commissioner, who is in his second year on the job. “I’ve known Jim for a long time ... And you know, I just don’t like seeing anyone put in this position. But it’s the world we live in.”

Which brings us to the present, and a moment in which everyone outside of the SEC and Big Ten find themselves anxious and concerned about what might happen next. Some schools, undoubtedly, would be in demand should those two leagues decide to grow even larger. Others, as Tranghese put it, would be “left standing alone.” And what of the conferences themselves? Tranghese has been there, left to attempt to hold one together in the face of insurmountable odds and forces.

Another good article...

Ranking of most coveted ACC schools...

Would move Dook down to the 3rd tier and VT up to tier 2; only reason why they would be considered tier 2 is if UNC pushed for them.

Simply roll my eyes at all those who think BC is a target (the addition of BC has been a major disappointment for the ACC).

Ahhh the golden domers .....stuck with the weight of their own image ...and making. They have to wait..otherwise would look like they were forced into making a decision...but no...standing on top of the hill , gazing into the future...firmly weighted to the ground...thinking, pondering. They see no one, talk to no one,,,slowly turning. They see no signs of predators. They stand alone atop the hill....but wait did they forget to put on their pants,,is that polka dot boxer shorts blowing in the wind?

Well done, sir. Well done.

What amazed me most about ND since when my son started there, is how much the Irish bend to the will of fans who never attended. In many ways, these clowns are responsible for the unbridled hatred of Notre Dame here and abroad. Don’t get me wrong; many alumni can share in the blame. Like so many other institutions, Notre Dame is not as bad as critics portray it. Of course, it's not nearly as good as its supporters claim.

My son, daughter-in-law, and son-in-law, Domers all, have countless criticisms. Many of which are echoed on this board.

I include a word of caution. Enemies make college football fun. When I was younger, I detested Woody Hayes - hatred at its purest essence. When Woody punched that Clemson player at a bowl game, I exploded with joy. Woody is gone! Woody is gone! Next season, I found that I missed the old bastard.
