One of the things I was impressed with Sat. is that our tackling was great. When the D got a ball carrier in their sights, it was over. Squared up wrapped up and that was it all day.

Agreed. I really don't remember a single missed tackle or slippery ballcarrier.

I especially liked Lancaster's drive stopping tackle near the sideline in the first quarter. It seemed like he swiped only air before colluding with the ground, but the shock waves caused the ball carrier to fall anyway.

I was shocked he was able to get there

It was the soundest exhibition of tackling fundamentals I have seen at NU in a long time

Or at least since XWas blew up Hackeysack at PSU last season..........
It was for the whole game. I did not see arm tackles. It was refreshing to see how fundamentally sound they were the whole game.

Sorry, I thought you were referring to the Lancaster tackle. You are right, I can't recall a better exhibition of fundamental tackling by NU.

The tackling was superb. I'll nitpick on Smith, who failed to break down on a blitz and whiffed, and AWalk, who whiffed on a coverage tackle in the flat on the final drive, yielding an additional 10 yards and a set of downs for SU.
