Takeaways: Cats run out of steam in 68-64 loss to Nebraska

Thanks for posting all those quotes from Coach Collins.
He sure goes out of his way to blame the players for their lack of experience.
(That, of course, is largely his fault)

There's a "Woe is me" nature to the comments....
"Brooks isn't coming back, Jalen isn't coming back," he said. "These are the guys that are going to be in the game."
(Yeah, we know, try to encourage them)

About Martinelli... "To get assists, the guy he passes to has to make the shot," he said.
Thats pretty dumb. Martinelli is not a good passer.

and finally,
"But that's on me and this staff to coach these guys up to perform under pressure because that's who we have right now."
Nothing like telling your players that you have given up.

Disappointing.

Great article Lou. Kudos for the acknowledgement of us having to play players with serious flaws. The next 5 games are no more than learning experiences for the newcomers.

Love Collins honesty on the situation. No silly Coach speak here. This is big time basketball.

@mshelton33 wrote that story, not me. We both appreciate the comments, though.

Even the students have given up on this season. Pathetic turn out for the game yesterday. So much for supporting their classmates.

I received some replies that midterms are the culprit. For a Sunday 2 pm tipoff? That doesn't hold water with me. I agree with you: it was a pathetic turnout.

@lou v was that your wife with the Nebraska gear on that you were with? A house divided. I know the feeling my wife went to Iowa. We have lost the last several football and basketball games against them.

Yeah, Mrs. Lou V is a Nebraska grad (her mother was sitting with us yesterday, too). However, both of our kids are Northwestern fans. My daughter was with me in purple yesterday.
