My takeaway. We live and die with our three point shooting. The absence of a penetrating point guard makes us a one dimensional team when teams double team Pardon. The DePaul point guard ate us up in the first half and created lots of points in the paint for them. We cannot count on 25-0 runs to bail us out.
I thought Greer did a good job for the limited time he was in. The fact that he came in while Ash sat out the entire game reflects the progress Greer has made. Collins decision to stay with Turner who had a hot hand made sense but simply reinforces our three dependent offense. I am thrilled we won, however, DePaul’s double team strategy on Pardon will be repeated by others if we cannot find someone who can penetrate and score or dish. We need a more balanced offense.
