Saw this on a different forum. A player suing the NCAA for eligibility restrictions. Wants 2 more years. If he wins there will be no more eligibility rules. 30 or 35 year olds in College football?

that’s not exactly what he’s asking for.

Agree or disagree, but he’s making a fairly simple point. First because he was in junior college during Covid he doesn’t benefit from the free Covid year that all NCAA players got.

Second, the current NCAA rule for players that start at a four year college is four years of eligibility within five years. But that’s not the rule if you transfer from a Juco. Instead, you only get three years. He claims Juco is not equivalent and shouldn’t countered against a five-year limit. He points out that Chris Wenke played baseball for six years and then had five years of eligibility. (Ironically, that’s how you ended up with the 30 football college football). I’m not sure this is winning argument, but this is what he saying. Not that there shouldn’t be eligibility limits at all.

It would be interesting if this were to win and going to JUCOs suddenly because the big thing to do to do your developing before your clock starts ticking. It would be like colelge hockey with a ton of 21 year old freshmen.
