They may not make Tourney. But still my favorite TEAM

Me too.

These guys combined for 35 points tonight: Mullins (14), Nicholson (9), Fitz (8), and Smith (4). They average about 10 points/game total between them. Nice to see someone step up when Barnhizer (and then Leach) are out and Berry disappeared offensively in the last 30 minutes of the game.

Next man up! Mullins woke up from a month-long slumber. Fitzmorris keeps throwing wrinkles that make me want to see him play more minutes... the free throw form, baby! The flush! The jump hook! Blake Smith is ready to do another Reggie Hearn impression.

No team left on the schedule overwhelms us talentwise, even without Brooks. Heck, even without Leach, too, though not real interested in finding that out. Close it out on a 9-0 stretch? WHY NOT US??

Jeez I hope you’re right, I just can’t get excited about Mullins, it just doesn’t appear based on the eye test as well as his historical stats, that games like this are reproducible or can be consistent. I love that they found a way to win and hope they can continue to. Keenan appears to be reliable for a few buckets a game, and if not for a Hunger injury (Luke hasn’t seen action in many games and appears unlikely to), we may have never known. If they had just won one more they would carry a 5-7 record entering a winnable road game at Washington. But then they had some very close wins that could have gone the other way. Would love for the Cats to win Saturday, need Leach to somehow clear a potential setback. Fingers crossed.

I don't like our odds without Leach (and obv without Brooks). He is one of our most consistent scorers and is the best "point guard" we have. We won last night because we got very uncharacteristic scoring from our bench. I'd love to be wrong. It would be a season changer it Keenan transforms into a 100% free throw shooter and Justin becomes a 75% three point shooter. But a regression to the mean in much more likely and we desperately need Jalen's 14 points/3 assists a game stat line.

On the positive side, if the outside shooting continues to be effective early, we might see more 9 point games from Matt.

Towards the end of the first half, I noticed that USC was really playing tight on the perimeter and really disrupting our action. Seeing us start the second half and look for alley oop opps for Matty was a clever counter.

Nicholson getting 8-10 points a game would go a long ways to defraying the absence of Barnhizer. He had 10 vs. WI and 9 last night.

Yeah. We had make them pay for that.

In my son's middle school playoff game last night, the opposing coach kept running a 3-2 zone with lots of pressure up high. This opened the baseline to all sorts of stuff from the wing or post, but our players are so poorly coached they could not fully take advantage of it.
