I think it's the first time (as long as I've been alive anyways) that if I were asked to provide live odds for us to make the NCAA tournament, I would put it at above 50%.
Heck of a performance tonight.
1) BMac was all caps INCREDIBLE, aside from that one turnover where he didn't see the backside guy rotating and the 10 second violation, he almost did nothing wrong on offense all night. His floater was money, he hit 3s, and some absolutely beautiful passes, especially on the fast break. Seemed like he could get wherever he wanted whenever he wanted tonight. Keep it up Bryant!
2) Scottie has really turned into a scorer on offense, and has also sneakily improved his defense quite a bit. I like how he takes risks on D a few times a game now, and has gotten a handful of nice steals. Glad to see him put in another fine performance against the Hawkeyes.
3) Vic's D on Jok was awesome. Yes he may have been a bit injured, but regardless Vic hounded him all over the floor. He's turned into a defensive stopper as well, it's quite unusual to have 2 of those on the same time with him and Sanjay. And his ability to set his feet and jump straight up vertically off the move is impressive, his outside shooting has been huge for us.
4) Dererk it is just fantastic to have you back. He is a game changer on defense and on the boards. Was having trouble getting the tip ins to fall early, but he managed to do okay with all the dunks later.
5) Assorted others- solid minutes from Skelly, Brown was up and down but did enough in his time to get BMac some rest. Tap's shot wasn't there tonight but we didn't need it cause everyone else's was.
And lastly Sanjay- I was wondering if he might have been sick too the last week, he seemed a step slow the last couple games. He was a bit better tonight- somewhat more lively on defense, and running the floor on offense when he got in. Glad to see him make that 3, he was on a bit of a cold streak so hopefully that helps.
Overall - just a fantastic team win. It's way early, but great to get the W in front of a strong home crowd. Enjoy it, and let's keep it going boys.
