...makes me sick to my stomach, having invested in NU football for years, and I'm certain this is true for many of us. Invested in a football program that produced historic results for NU, and Puff, GONE! Fitz clearly has not shown up in th past several years, but his termination, based on the way it transpired is highly suspect. Fitz, at this point may not be the best coach going forward, but I would love to see this whole thing turned on it's head, with Schill and Gragg fired and Fitz reinstated.

Not sure I'd go so far as saying Fitz should be reinstated.

But I do feel that everybody needs to go eventually. Gragg asap and Schill eventually as well.

Reality is that it feels as if this is an extension of the JON hiring; just feels as if Fitz wasn't really keyed into what was going on at the ground level of the program if there was this alleged hazing situation festering in the locker room on an annual basis.

It's not as bad as the baseball situation, but I don't think revoking Fitz's firing makes any sense. It's over, we have to move on...

I'm just floored that we had such poor leadership at the helm of the University at such an important time.

Excellent post. Whether Fitz would have taken this program forward is in doubt. However, the way this was handled is unprofessional at best. it feels like Fitz should still be in place and Schill and Gragg be gone. One can only hope the Trustees will make the correct call.

I'm with you quite frankly, if this had been handled properly, I'd be shocked if Fitz was gone.

Schill and Gragg had no clue how to handle a PR crisis and then just panicked completely. A 3-4 or 6 game suspension for Fitz along with a redacted release of the findings would have gone a long way to preventing this from becoming a firestorm.

The "attempted coverup" of not releasing any info and doing a Friday "two week summer vacation/suspension" info dump made everything seem a lot worse and so the Daily's report became the de facto public record of the event even if parts there may have been sensationalized.

You could do business studies on how poorly this process was managed; about as thoroughly bungled as possible. Everyone should be taught that this is the exact wrong way to handle a crisis situation like this.
