Newsome participated in a recent 7 x 7 camp run by Pylon. Newsome played for Team Boom (see below for humorous cross reference).

"Boom limited the aforementioned duo of Rogers and Marshall in the semifinals, thanks in large part to the stellar play of Newsome. The three-star prospect displayed excellent instincts throughout the weekend and came up with a number of pass deflections. He was arguably the most consistent defensive back in the tournament. Newsome is committed to Northwestern."

7v7 performances in shorts are always fun and accolades are never bad, but it's almost an entirely different sport from 11v11 football.

Coincidentally, the Houston Chronicle had a recent article about St. Pius X playing in an upcoming 7-on-7 state tournament. St. Pius is Venric Mark's alma mater and currently features WR Jacob Jefferson, a 2018 NU commit. Their coach points out in the article that while they don't match up as well on the offensive and defensive lines, their talent at the skill positions is as good as anyone's. I'm excited about seeing Jefferson in NU purple in a couple of years. St. Pius's QB is a stud who we were recruiting (class of 2019), but he recently committed to Texas A&M.

He's part of a very talented Glenbard North secondary, and the best cover man of the group man up. I watched them play twice last year as they are a short walk up the street. They have a defense with like 5 kids who will/can play FBS/FCS ball

Five D1 kids on defense is pushing it. Maybe 3. Newsome, Henderson and Flowers maybe but at the FCS level only. We will see how the linebacker (Fitzpatrick) looks after his knee surgery last year.
