Totally OT: Herbstreit

I've always liked him as an announcer (except for that wacky forwards-backwards play analysis, which I just find dizzying), but beyond that, appreciate that he's maintained while going through many personal challenges...including his own dealings w/the OSU lunatic fringe. And now this:

Kirk Herbstreit, who couldn’t hold back his emotions after Ohio State win, reveals his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer
He lost a lot of credibility with his ranting about how Alabama should be in over fsu last year and over Indiana this year. He has turned into a hack.

Indiana had the weakest schedule imaginable. When they played a top tier team they lost. They should not have been in the CFP. The only saving grace was that the Big Ten got an additional $14 million

So if not IU, then who? Alabama was ranked 11 in final cfp rankings. I guess it have been them (sarcasm font).

Ò

alabama would have been a better choice’s
I don't think so. Alabama lost twice to Michigan in 2024, on the first day of the year and the last day of the year, and Indiana beat Michigan. Alabama was not a better choice.

IU beat Michigan, who beat OSU. IU beat everyone on their Big 10 schedule (most convincingly) except OSU, the eventual champ, and then ND, the runner-up. Only 2 losses to the 2 top teams.

IU also had last year’s 2 National championship game participants on schedule. Beat them both in UM and UW. Not IU’s fault neither lived up to expectations (or, did they not live up to expectations cuz they lost to lowly IU?)

Bama lost 4 games, including to the aforementioned UM, who played without 3-4 NFL first rounders. Also got embarrassed by .500 OU and Vandy teams. Tennessee got wrecked a lot worse by OSU in the CFP than IU did…anyone like cryer Herbstreit and SEC Shill, Finebaum say they didn’t belong? TX got an inexplicable non-targeting call vs ASU to even advance. Boo hoo!! And Eff the SEC!!

Herbie works for ESPN and they are in bed with the SEC which massively underperformed in the postseason.

I don’t believe there were any great teams this year. Ohio State included. NIL and the portal have had closed the gap between the historic tier 1 teams and the next tier.

Alabama was not a strong team and definitely should not have been in the playoffs. Indiana beat the teams that were put in front of them, so they deserved to get it. They came in 10th felt, right.
