Trevor Working out for the Bears

It's got to be a joke. Chances of Siemian of making an NFL roster = 0

Seriously.

My response to him would be:
You know who else couldn't make an NFL roster after college? Kurt Warner. And everyone knows Tom Brady's story. Not saying it happens a lot, but it's not out of the realm of possibility that when you are a starter on a D1 team, you can get looks and maybe even make a squad if the circumstances are right.

Thanks for your opinion, xxzyklonbxx!

If it's true, I hope Trevor has one hell of a good day!

Why would anyone knock a guy who played hard for us for so long and won some pretty big games for the Cats with his arm?

Even if it does not work out, wouldn't be great to tell your kids and grandchildren that you had a tryout with the Bears?

You know, the biggest lie you are told growing up is that the truth is always the right choice. The truth is often a distant second to shutting the hell up.

Regardless of his chances, this is still information I'm happy to know, so thanks for posting it. Does he have a shot? Probably not, but I wouldn't say it's 0%.

Post of the Year!

He has to stay healthy and he has not done that throughout his career at NU.

Your post is a joke.

While the chances of Siemian making an NFL roster are low, considering that a no. of comparable B1G QBs (from MSU and PU) of late have managed to put together careers as journeyman back-up QBs, the chances are higher than you make out.

Siemian has a decent arm and decent mobility - he has looked above avg (for a B1G QB) when he had both ankles healthy.

And that's w/ a subpar O-line, WR corps and no threat at RB (until JJ started to emerge).

If Siemian had been healthy and played behind dOSU O-line (which according to one article, was penalized for holding only twice during conference play) and had the weapons that dOSU had at RB and wideout, he would have easily passed for over 3k yds.

Katatonic...Agreed +1 My only problem with Trevor becoming an NFL QB would be his penchant for throwing interceptions. However, Kafka also had that problem and he played in the NFL. Siemian has a better arm than Mike, not nearly as good of a runner though as you know. It would be a shocker if he made a roster though because it would show what he could do when he is healthy with a decent line and receivers who can get open.

QBs throw INTs while under pressure; even the best of them (Brady, Manning, Brees, etc.) do.

Think the biggest issue w/ Siemian is that he has decent arm strength, mobility, etc. - but doesn't stand out in any way and there are a lot of back-up QBs and prospective NFL QBs in the same boat.

Siemian can throw pretty much every pass an NFL QB should be able to make (including the over-the-shoulder), but if he is to get a shot, he has to be able to show that he can throw into a tight window w/ consistency.

Trevor's biggest issue has always been a lack of consistent accuracy. If he can show improvement in that area, he has a shot at making a practice squad. There are just not a lot of great QB prospects out there to satisfy NFL demand.

Have to think the injuries really affected his mechanics and accuracy his senior season. Early in his career he demonstrated fantastic placement on sideline routes, but seemed to struggle more with throws into the deep middle. I think his arm strength is sufficient for NFL standards, so hopefully he can latch on somewhere and get a chance to develop.

If Moses Moreno, Rusty Lisch, Steve Stenstrom, Caleb Hanie, Henry Burris and others can get a shot with the Bears, why not Trevor?

Right you are, Hungry Jack . . . but reading that list of yours is, I believe, a medically documented cause of heartburn.
