UFL in Evanston? (Not that I have heard anything, just brainstorming...)

I still think downsizing the stadium (and raising prices to make up for it) is/was an atrocious idea. I have made that clear in the past.

That said, I was watching the UFL this weekend (there were some pretty good games) and noticed that half of the UFL teams play in college stadiums. I wonder if the UFL would consider making a Chicago team and play games at our new stadium since Soldier is huge and would be like a Mausoleum, they can't use the baseball stadiums and DeKalb is too far to make sense. It would be nice to have a UFL team in Evanston in my opinion. I guess they could also use Seat Geek but Evanston with the trains and all seems to be far more convenient.

Just an idea.

UFL?

Why not MMA? That is a much stronger brand - American football is a dying sport at the youth level.

Also: how about Women’s LAX hosting major events there? @CoralSpringsCat got nasty on me but even he’d agree.

Imagine the record our lacrosse team would set in the NRF (New Ryan Field).

The other day I ran across a faded pink tank top that I got for competing in the Southern Comfort Great Shooters nerf hoop competition at halftime of a NU game in the late ‘80s. I think I qualified at the bar in Norris. Perhaps that could be one of the 60 smaller scale events for the new stadium.

Good Lord … I haven’t heard of Southern Comfort since I was an Evanston undergraduate (long ago).

But yes: Nerf Hoop, Frisbee Golf, regular golf, beer pong, or Pickleball Championships would all be better at the NRF over the UFL, XFL, or any other dying-due-to-concussion sports.

Believe the new stadium is event limited so, as they say, NU needs to choose wisely.

At practice in the old McGaw, I found Janis Joplin's empty bottle of Southern Comfort on the stage the day after her concert .

Since I've been of age? Oh sure, many times.

In the last 30 years or so? No, never.

That’s amazing. Joplin was incredible- What a voice.

If you kept it, you could take it on Pawn Stars and try to get $50 for it.

Football fans of the game below the NFL level just haven't realized it yet.

Star CFB players are WAY overpaid while UFL players are way underpaid.

If the trajectory for CFB continues and NIL doesn't get reformed and improved, UFL might be considered on par in 10 years and overtake it at some point. An expanded UFL, maybe with something like 40 teams in medium and some larger sized cities could even be bringing in potential star CFB players eventually instead of schools.
