Really like the Rose Bowl patch being included. I will have to dig up my cap from that game with a similar patch to wear this weekend when I come to Evanston.

Really dislike the black.
A program with no identity. I couldnt imagine osu or mich playing games with their school colors on a weekly basis just to appease UA and commercialize a product. Just my opinion as i know the leadership council is the entity that mixes up the unis. Its so bad though that i have no idea what color or what uniform we are wearing each week until they have the monday media stint advertising it. Im just speaking for me but i love the purple and white.

Compared to prior years we've done better this year with alternate unis. Though I don't think color scheme would have helped last Saturday at all...looking forward to seeing the Rose Bowl throwback in person at Homecoming. Sad that a uni from my undergrad days is now considered throwback.

Wait, you mean OSU doesn't sometimes wear black uniforms like this one

"I hate those uniforms" is the new "get off my lawn".

Everyone changes always, except Penn State, perhaps. Under Armour is a tremendous asset to NU athletics.

I think the black can go well with purple and really dark purple looks black but keep the purple evident. I also think the Arch was cool on the helmet and could become a standard feature on the back

My reference was every week. It seems like we change every week. Im sure the UA contract means osu has to wear one different uni a saturday every year. Just seems like we barely have the same exact color matches 3 times a year. Women probably love it though.

Why would an Under Armour contract have anything to do with OSU? If Under Armour had a contract with OSU that demanded a 1 alternate a year, why wouldn't OSU stipulate that the uniform had to be Scarlet and grey white trim or something like that and not allow black?

Ready for the answer? The kids on the team like to wear jerseys that are different. They like black jerseys. They look "cool."

Thats what happens when you let kids decide. Nothing wrong with their colors but imo there should be some pride with the purple so i can be color coordinated.
I mean it doesnt make much sense if fitz wants purple in the stands but the players choose black.
gotta be pride in purple. Its a sacred color in this institution.

You're right... Ohio State definitely wouldn't ever ditch their school colors to wear black. Oh wait... maybe we're wrong. And Michigan would never de-emphasize the maize and blue. But wait... wrong again.

The bitching and moaning about "branding" and the like is pretty hilarious.

That's what I love about your posts, Turk. You write with authority, yet much of the time you don't know WTF you're writing about.

I have the opposite view. The black and purple should be played in every home game. We have an identity with those colors. Those colors were worn by 3 B1G championship teams. They are the color of champions. It is our tradition, and it represents NU at our finest. I watched us play with purple and white throughout the Peay years and then the latter Walker years. Bring back the Black and the only time we were champions in this league.

Definitely a faithful rendition by UnderArmour of our uni's from that year. Even the numeral font looks straight out of '95. I like it.

Only thing missing will be the monster shoulder pads.

I'm fine with the uniforms...a nice nod to the 95 team, but to be honest, I always thought the 95 uniforms with the purple cat head was Gary Barnett not giving two sh*ts about the university style guide. I've never seen the purple cat head used before or since - I figured it was supposed to be purple N with white cat head, but somewhere, someone didn't get the memo.

So I can't get any takers for the black jerseys with purple numbers with white outlines? Still? Well, I never have been accused of having any taste . . .

Style guide? Seriously?

I really don't know what you, gocatsgo, and chicagofan24 have against Turk. So he likes the purple over the black. Gocatsgo used to be a good poster but then went off on the deep end and started attacking Turk and other great fans instead of focusing on football and the team.

What I have against Turk, like SciCat said, is he speaks as if he knows what he's talking about when he honestly doesn't. That, and he CONSTANTLY flip flops on the team, the coaches, etc. We're all superfans here, but he tries to be THE superfan. That, and he has OCD about the WR report forums

If we have to go black, I did prefer those. So, no, you're not the only one.
