Three-star 2018 CB DJ Brown finally texted me back last night. I confirmed the following:
- He is indeed taking an official visit to NU next weekend, Jan. 26-28.
- He does not yet have an offer from NU, but it sounds like a mere formality. If he visits, he will probably get one.
- He is also taking officials to Cal and Ohio State.
- He did NOT visit Clemson last weekend.
I hope to get some more out of him today and write a story.
You might wonder about NU's stance on Brown, given that he is still a Virginia commit. But in this new recruiting world with an early signing period, NU views any commitment who was committed before the early signing period but didn't sign as technically uncommitted. I agree with that. If you were committed before December and didn't sign in December, whether you are committed or not is basically semantics. I like the fact that NU is being more aggressive with those uncommitted 2018 players who are still out there.
