I connected with Connor McLaughlin, a 6-foot-7 tackle from Tampa Jesuit, yesterday. He is visiting NU on April 20.
He told me that Jeff Genyk first made contact with him when the coach went down to Tampa in "late January or early February." I wouldn't be surprised if NU offers him on his upcoming visit -- Fitz usually likes to meet guys before they extend an offer. McLaughlin certainly hopes so. Genyk is then scheduled to go back down to Tampa again to watch McLaughlin for spring practice.
McLaughlin has 15 offers, including Ivies and a bunch of academic schools. He has visited USF, UCF, Boston College, Harvard, Wake Forest and Duke so far. Both of his parents went to Wake but neither played sports.
