I'm trying to book a large group for the Stanford game, and I was wondering if people had experience sitting in the upper deck on the west side of the stadium. I've been to countless games, but I've always either sat in the student section or mooched off season ticket holders with seats between the 30s. I typically like to have a bit of a higher angle in order to watch plays develop, but I was curious about the atmosphere up there, the sound, the sight lines, etc. Any advice would be appreciated...

I sat there once (Penn State 1995) Sight lines are solid. Not sure about anything else at this point.

I sat there once in 1996 or 1997 in a driving rainstorm against Michigan. The sightlines are great especially in the first few rows.

I sat there for Syracuse a couple of years ago and loved it. Great sight lines and plenty of room to stretch out.

I have sat there for numerous games but just not lately. The view is great from just about any seat but the only thing that can effect the enjoyment would be heavy rain. I have attempted to get our little group to move up there but old habits are hard to change.

I've sat in the upper deck for 20 years and prefer it to any other spots. I occasionally move around during games when the attendance is low to get other perspectives, but prefer the upper deck because you can clearly see the action as the plays unfold. The only drawbacks are rain and cold wind during late autumn.

My questionable memory is telling me that the monsoon game with Michigan was in '98. Es posible?

The monsoon game was definitely 1998. That was the only game I missed in my years at NU. Out of town. Papa John's was quoting three hour waits that night.

I think Bates took a few snaps.

Yep. Must have been 1998. The rainfall was epic. I was sitting virtually alone in the upper deck with water flowing past my feet several inches deep. My wife waited under shelter. She is slightly less insane than I. Yes. Bates took some snaps and they tried to run an option with him. I don't recall it working well but neither offense lit up the scoreboard that day.

This all sounds so terrific! But, I have always sat about 7 row under the shelter of the deck on the 40 and I wouldn't trade for the world. I have never been wet.
