This team has been in every game it has played deep into the second half. When's the last time you could say that about an NU team.
There have been games where teams have made runs and NU responds with a poker face. "Is that it. Is that all ya got?"
The defense is vastly improved and on defense no players take plays off. While the heights of excellence like in the Butler first half may not be as commonplace as we'd like, at no time does this team play less than good defense.
This is a very well coached team of players who are dialed in. You do see intensity with Tap and Sanjay. They'd like it to be this year, very clearly.
But the consistency of game-in, game-out solid play is terrific. It's nice to have talented players.
I'd argue that the team takes another leap next year, regardless of how this year ends. The Cats will get longer with Rap and Falzon back. Falzon is a very good defender. Brown improves. And the recruit is a big add for the back court.
Give the entire staff their due. And a tip of the hat to the former coach for bringing in the two seniors who are both quality players and students.
