Very big news

very interesting, indeed. I don't know that I like the original plan to try to unveil it right before a bowl game.

That detail alone reeks of selfishness. It also tells me a guy like Huma was happy to use a guy like Colter like a pawn - face of a program, well-known, etc. without particular regard for the individual.

To me, this whole issue went sideways when the concept of a "union" became more prominent than the core issue of player advocacy. Unions are ultra-political entities that are extremely divisive. I still maintain that this has a better likelihood of public support and ultimately of success if they would have organized as a student advocacy organization, not unlike the American Medical Students Association.

Weird article... While superficially appearing to give KC's side of the issue, the writer's overall tone seemed sort of anti- towards him. It really did not paint him in a good light. The most emotionally impactful statement in the article was about the woman from NU bursting into tears after testifying.

I agree that the plan to unveil the unionization attempt right before a bowl game to maximize exposure did not speak of a guy who loved his team and his coaches.

I am not really sure what the writer was trying to prove. It actually made it more interesting.

Interesting article from Deadspin...details I hadn't seen about Kain and Persa's relationship along with the union movement was going to be started during the week leading up to a bowl game, but we didn't make a bowl.

Thanks for the article NYC33. One point that I find interesting is that KC said he approached Huma himself. From speaking to a few high-profile former players, I believe that Huma and his forces had been hammering high profile players who were graduating from NU for at least a half a decade, maybe more, to take up the cause that Kain finally did. In other words, Kain was the first one, in their tellings, who took them up on their offer. I guess it doesn't matter at this point. I wish nothing but the best for Colter in his future.
