Watching Ohio State, only one thing in college can stop em!

Speaking too soon, guys. Buckeyes are sucking wind right now, although they're barely ahead, and Beamer is outcoaching Meyer once again. What might save them is that they've knocked out VT's quarterback.

OSU defense is solid not spectacular! The offense is unstoppable, unless it is raining sideways at 30 mph! Crazy good, imho. They will roll thru BT!

VT quarterback getting knocked out completely changed the complexion of the game. Their second-string guy could not generate any passing offense. OSU pass rush without Bosa was decidedly unspectacular. The final score will make this game look much more one-sided than it actually was. They probably will romp the B1G for the simple reason that no league team other than possibly MSU looks to be anything spectacular. Not a great first week for the B1G.

Give VT credit for playing well. Brewer going out meant VT had almost no chance, but Buckeyes were ahead when he went out. The Hokies were also greatly helped by two turnovers giving them short fields, and a very bad broken coverage for their long TD.

Bucks, could have played better, but that was without their starting return men, several experienced receivers who would have had significant playing time, and of course Bosa.

True enough, but sloppy effort and they'd better hope Bosa stays out of trouble.

I'd say putting 42 points up at VT without 4 of your top 5 wr's is pretty darn impressive. Gonna be a fun year to be a Buckeye fan. Good luck to your team.

You nailed it; those WR drops for huge gains likely do not happen since those guys will not likely see the field barring injury. And punt returns will certainly be different; every punt looked like an adventure with your 1st string RB (but second string PR) fielding punts. And not having Bosa was huge. Brewer or not, I think you were going to win this game fairly easily once their adrenaline was spent with the huge home crowd in the first half.

But please have some mercy on Hawaii next week-- I think you could set an NCAA scoring record on them if you wished to....do you have a 4th string QB you could throw out there?

The snow at Minny last year didn't stop 'em. Braxton Miller looks good. I'd put Barnett at WR too and take #21 out.

I didn't watch the game, does that mean Cardale Jones won the QB job? A surprise to me.

It would be more fun if your season could somehow be made more competitive. I know winning every game is the goal but OSU is hardly ever being challenged in any meaningful way.
The fans sure bleed buckeye juice. I continue to be astounded by the guy who sat behind me at the OSU game absolutely weeping when NU was winning that game. The cameras showed the same thing last night when VT went ahead at the end of the half. Get a grip grown men.
I admit I'm jealous of a team that is practically guaranteed to win most of it's games but I think it would be better for the sport if there were ways to keep things more competitive.

Look, you have a very talented team, but the VT starting QB had the Buckeye secondary running around like a Chinese fire drill. There was a huge dropoff when their second-string guy came in, and that enabled the playmakers on your offense to stay on the field constantly and break them down. As I said earlier, there probably is no one in the league to challenge you after what I thought was a disappointing opening week for the B1G. Our league has no chance to match the SEC overall until Penn State and Michigan get their acts together. The B1G East, despite all the hoopla, looks to be very far from a super division this year. Indiana's defense is terrible, and we'll see how good Rutgers and Maryland are after they play somebody.

Indiana had nine players suspended for the game, including four defensive starters (I believe.)

I wouldn't put too much stock into SIU's success moving the football. IU should be much improved in coming weeks.

That said, I totally agree that the B1G East is not intimidating, save for the Buckeyes.

(My heart goes out to the Saluki squad, though. Such a ballsy move to go for the win at the end. They deserved the victory every bit as much as Indiana did.)

You realize the projected number one 2016 NFL draft pick, their DE Joey Bosa was suspended right? They said he might have been the number one pick in the draft last year if he wasn't ineligible as a true sophomore and compare him to JJ Watt. At 6'6 275 with the speed of a LB I am guessing their Defense will look much better with him back.

I believe most are aware that Bosa was suspended, which of course is completely on him. They'd better hope he isn't injured or suspended when they face elite teams, which might not be until they play Michigan State and get into the playoffs. Without Bosa, VT quarterback had a long time to throw for most of the game.

Well, nine players suspended doesn't bode well for the program. They're going to have problems on defense, four starters out or not.

They were rotating 2 sophomores and a redshirt freshman at the 2 DE spots. You are assuming these players, who were getting some of their first meaningful playing time ever won't get better as the season goes on, which is obviously a ridiculous assumption, especially after the way their D improved last year.

Not to mention they hit Brewer 6 times sacked him twice and hurried him 6 more before breaking his collarbone to knock him out of the game in under 3 quarters. There are a lot of programs, even some "elite" ones whose DLines didn't play that well in week 1. Also you take away the 50 yard TD pass to the VT fullback which was because the OSU FS Tyvis Powell blew coverage, which had nothing to do with the DLine and Brewer only had 100 yards passing.

The reason OSU gets better is because they continue to practice on each other. OSU will have more competition in practice than they will in any game this season until the host MSU.

Jesus, since when do you "take away" a touchdown because of a blown coverage? That's part of the game.

Wow, is your reading comprehension seriously this bad? You claim they had problems with their DLine because Brewer had all this time to throw which is hilariously incorrect. The guy only threw 15 passes and was hit or hurried on 80% of his throws (12/15), until they finally broke his collarbone. Since when is that a weak DLine? Pointing out VT had a very weak 100 yards passing when OSU's DB's didn't completely blow coverage also doesn't matter when discussing their DLine? LOL. You've been living in PA too long, you sound like the posters on the BWI board.

You don't take away a TD because of a blown coverage, but a blown coverage TD is up for discussion when evaluating the talent level or quality of a team's pass defense. A single blown coverage long distance TD in a game where the opposing offense's passing game wasn't necessarily shut down, but held in check besides the blown coverage play, doesn't make it a questionable defense.

Now if the DBs blow a coverage against Hawaii, then another team two weeks later, that is a trend and would signify a team's deficiency.

Totally agree with this. This is why IMG Academy players improve so quickly. Iron sharpens iron.

Hey CatsDad, how ABOUT them Cats last weekend???

I couldn't find the IMG game on the tube. How'd Jango do?

JMan had 11 tackles and a sack. Had several open field tackles on OSU commit Tristan Wallace and a touchdown saving one at the 1 foot line. We were up 47-15 when we called the dogs off. I was down in that Texas heat where it was over 115 degrees on the field. Loved NU win. #18 is a beast.

Which 18?

We'll find out next week, I suppose.

I didn't think that Sparty's play vs. Western Michigan came anywhere close to matching their supposed potential.

They are definitely on the intimidating 'watch list.'

WMU is better than you think. Fleck is a great recruiter and coach, besides never judge a team on week one.

Gee ChiDoc, if your handle indicates that you are a doctor, then why all the exhileration about a kid getting his collarbone broken? That attitude is Ohio St. at it's worst and maybe a switch to the SEC would fit your blood lust.
