Amazing find by GoUPurple featured over on HailtoPurple.com. A combined audio and video feature put together from a discovered audio record that chronicled the Wildcats' first Rose Bowl season in 1948-49. The effort by GoUPurple (Historian Larry La Tourette, author of "Northwestern Wildcat Football") that went into adding the video is laudatory.
Some quick takes:
Back in the day homecoming included a huge bonfire.
Given #37's hand position it appears there was no penalty then for a facemask.
Slide rules still ruled at Tech.
The Rock was positioned closer to the entrance of University Hall
We were in the "Big 9", not the "Big 10."
