What is the deal with NU in the first half?

There's a reason the second half of blow outs looks decent. The pressure is pretty much gone when you have pissed the game away. And the other team starts managing instead of being so aggressive.

I think the common thread is that, despite a fairly seasoned roster, we looked excessively intimidated by the hostile environment. Where else did we see that? At Purdue. Two arenas that are very intense. Penn State, Michigan are mausoleums, and IA, I suspect, is not that intense either.

I believe IA is pretty intense, Mich usually is but right now they are finding their way with a new HC
