In fact, this is a year late (should have done it to Cal) but I am glad to see us use the time zone to our advantage.

I think Fitz would've done a 9 am start if he could against Cal given the 9:30 PM central start the prior year. It's the TV schedule that determines the time.

It may just be me, but I don't think the morning games are nearly as detrimental as the evening games. Once you're up and moving, you usually tend to wake up. Staying up all day and playing past your bedtime is a completely different ballgame.

People wake up earlier than normal to play golf, volleyball, or anything that you want to beat the heat for all the time. The only people who the 11 AM kickoff hurts is the NU tailgate experience...because the lots are not very lively when they open at 7 AM.

Team breakfast for an 11 am game is probably around 7 am, which is 5 am west coast time. I suspect not many kids are normally awake then. But I would be shocked if Stanford aren't working on Chicago time this week to acclimate themselves.

I don't know about you, but if there's one day a year that I am unable to sleep in the morning and my kids have nothing to do with it, it's Opening Day. I may not be at that team breakfast, but I'd be shocked if I sleep past 5:00 this Saturday.

I bet Shakes is set up right after the 7:00 rope drop!

I think for guys in our 30s on up that's the case, but these are college kids. I never went to bed before 1 am in college and I often had 7 am lifts. I would come home after class and get a nap in.

Stanford is going to be flying into Chicago sometime on Friday. They're not going to have a day or two to adjust to the time change. Stanford's coaches might be putting them on a schedule leading up to the game, but if most of the players go to bed before 11 normally, I would be shocked. 11 Pacific=1 am Central. I'm guessing Stanford will want to arrive at the stadium around 8, which means you get on the buses closer to 7:15 or 7:30 depending on where they're coming from. That means breakfast is closer to 6:30 and wake up calls are between 5:45 and 6:00. Players with injuries that need treatment will be even earlier.

Basically, I wouldn't be shocked if the average Stanford player is operating on under 5 hours of sleep.

I have heard our boys will be flying in on Thursday. We did look sluggish two years ago at Army with a 12 PM local start time.

It is not the sleep that I think will bother them, it's eating breakfast that early. They are going to be excited about opening day and it is going to seem really early to eat. The fourth quarter is going to see blood sugar levels dropping like flies.

I will be up at 4 AM EDT to get to Midway by 7AM CDT for the game -I am not a fan of early games

Kick-off is 4:00 AM my time. So I will be up early.

11 am Central is a great time for the East Coast TV watchers. Not so good for attending the game, however. Still better than freezing your ... off at night. Give me the old 1 pm start on Saturday for sitting in the stands.

Not going to get too many good start times with 5-7 seasons unfortunately

That's fair. I think with a coffee, they'll be ready to go. Obviously playing on the road is never easy, but even through college, I could still get up and be fine for most of the day if it was something I was pumped for. Though to be fair, my job was to grill, drink, and watch other people do the work. Funny how my role hasn't changed through the years.

Eggs and Kegs is Saturday Theme! West lot debacery.

I like 11am games because that's 5 pm in London. I can have a drink at halftime and then go out to dinner after the game to celebrate the Wildcat victory!

Don't want to disappoint my "fans", so the 11 AM kickoffs suck. I have to leave home by 7AM to reach Ryan Field west lot by 9AM. I'll add that I hope they have fixed the potholes!

I would be sad if you didn't post this. On the bright side at least you can be home for dinner by 4:30
