Michigan 1995 might have been the happiest I've ever been following a football game. I had married my Michigan-alum wife 2 years earlier, but because of the unbalanced schedule, this was the first NU-UM game we attended as a married couple. I had truly expected never to beat Michigan (not just that day, but ever), and I know she expected to go our whole marriage without losing to NU. I think I hugged every stranger in purple after that game.
I was not at that game but that season was pretty special. Only home game I missed was the Miami of Ohio game

My NU-fan son left early.
My ND son left early.
My ND son-in-law left early.
My sister left early.
My brother-in-law left early.

But StreamCat stayed, dammit. StreamCat stayed!
My NU buddy and I were the last two standing out of 12, and we finally had seen enough and were almost out of the stadium when we barely heard the PA announcer say "Fumble, recovered by Northwestern", and ran back inside to see the rest of it.

Only hit 7/10 as 10/10 is impossible. I passed on the Gator Bowl and did not make the SLC tourney game. Still regret not making an effort to get to SLC.

I did make it to the first Citrus, first Outback and Music City Bowls and was at the Ron Dayne fumble game! My wife loves to tell that story because I wanted to leave and she insisted we stay. I also left the second ND game before the improbable comeback bc we were freezing our butts of in the top row the ND's stadium. We left real slow but ND still had the ball when we actually left. Got the car and NU was kicking the tying field goal. My son has never forgiven me but he forgets how cold he was.
Same buddy of mine were at ND game in SB and the Purdue game Sunday. (I have him coming to the IU game tonight as well. Usually I get him to a FB game or two a year. Big games usually. Got him ST for a couple years but since then grandkid duties keep him from going to more than one or two a year,

My dad took me to my first Cat football game in 1950 (we beat Pitt) and the 2000 Michigan game was the last we would ever attend together so it is a special memory, but so are all of the above. We had a long dry spell of not much to cheer for in both sports, but since 1995, things have been different. Thank you, Gary Barnett!

How about adding NIU in 82 as an option lol

I was there at age 13! Cursed NU family!

Yeah, me too. Actually that was the first game I attended after graduating as I had flown back to Evanston from Alaska for homecoming and my 10th year reunion. To this day I maintain it was the Alaska Karma that I brought with me that broke the streak.

Final score, NU: 31, Northern Illinois: 6. Coach: Dennis Green. This gamewas NU's first win after 34 consecutive losses, and snapped the losing streak.

I see that while the Rose Bowl (first) and 2018 Big Ten Championship (second) were the most attended, third place 54-51 Michigan in 2000 was the top for games played in our own stadium.

Of those top three, was at both the Rose and 54-51.

Incredibly I learned, after we got home from the Michigan game, that our son's high school football coach here in Alaska was there too as he had been in the Midwest visiting family. The game itself was a special memory too for the fact that another son, then attending NU, was there to share the experience which followed our also having been at the week's prior Victory Right win in Minnesota.

The Alaska high school coach was so impressed by the stadium's broadcasted "Roar" that he had me get a clip of it so he could play it for the home games here where the school also had a feline mascot, the Lynx.

4/10: Rose Bowl, SLC, Big Ten Championship 2018, Purdue.

Do I get bonus points for attending every home game during my freshman year in 1993? (For reminders, we beat BC and Wake Forest, then proceeded to go 0-8 in the Big Ten.)

My opinion on the experiences: Rose Bowl is #1 on my list, SLC a close #2. Purdue #3, Big Ten Championship 2018 #4. But they were all awesome.

Honorable mentions (in no particular order) football: Wisconsin 1995 (shutout of the Badgers at home), Wisconsin 1996 (Ron Dayne fumble game), Michigan 1996 (Gowins repeat FG to win), heck, basically every home game of the 1995 and 1996 seasons!

Honorable mentions basketball: Michigan 1994 (OT win to clinch NIT berth)

Were there Mooses (or is it Meese) involved?

The Karma Moose made their first appearances after our Rose Bowl win.

FWIW though on the last day of January this first ungulate pictured below showed up across the street from my house. Let's see, did Northwestern win any significant games between then and now?

I guess the Mojo Moose just got tired of waiting until football season to do their thing.

In addiiton, on the way home from Rotary this evening I encountered another Moose on the roadway. It is pictured in the second photo below.

Guess we will have to wait to see if this evening's Moose appearance is the scintilla of karma that tips the balance for Northwestern to get an invite to the Big Dance - as it sure looked like the creature was dancing as it ambled its way toward the snowbank.

And tonight's Dancing Moose:

My dad took me to my first NU football game in ‘62. Tommy Myers to Paul Flatley!!!! Cats pulled a bait and switch on me by getting themselves ranked #1 that year for one week. The loss to Wisconsin the next week still hurts. Years later, I talked to a lineman on that team. He told me that they never should have gotten off the bus.
