who are our guards next year?

Turk, we have this kid, his initials are BM, and he has some eligibility left, perhaps you have seen him play. Seems decent.

You wanted "Rap or Falzon" to "Bring the ball up along with :Lindsay". Since BMac would be bringing the ball up, explain how this makes any sense...

well, unless you are assuming that BMC is goin to take over demps minutes when he brings the ball up. Look, im not sure if you are just a football guy but your suggestion that BMC is going to play a full 60 minutes is absurd.

OK, who do you want to "bring up the ball" with BMac?

So you want to know who will be our 2 next year? That is a long way away, but probably Lindsey or Ash.

I doubt Ash will be our starting two guard, unless he shows dramatic improvement by next year. I hope Lindsay becomes a consistent player and can lock down minutes at the 2.

Demps will be a loss, but our passing could be better without him. I'm getting more and more frustrated by his inability to find the open man and get him the ball. That frustration usually is tempered when Demps makes shots, but he hasn't been doing that yet this year.

BB is only 40 minutes. But we have Ash who will get more minutes when he gets healthy, Brown (who would likely spell BMac) , Law and Lindsey. Maybe next year we get a 5th year guard instead of a big.

While Demps athleticism will be missed, I am less sure of the rest of his game. His FG and 3 pt % are the worst on the team and he really has a lower number of assists than he should have considering his game.

Lindsey will most likely start next to Mcintosh, I doubt Sanjay will start next season. The point guard off the bench will be the better of Ash and Brown, remains to be seen.

I could see Law taking that role some as Lindsey backup as well. Ash will really back up both positions with Brown primarily backing up the PG. I can remember when NU had only one guy (a converted two) even capable of bring the ball up the court (forget his name) We have come a long way.

I think we will be ok at G next year. Mac with Brown to spell. Law, Lindsey and Ash to man the two.

I just don't see Law playing at the two, he's too good of a rebounder to leave guarding guys on the perimeter. That being said I think he very well could still bring the ball up the floor playing the three or the four. I guess it's possible he may be forced into playing the two since he is probably the best forward on the roster to act as a guard and our depth at the position will be weak if Ash doesn't take a step forward and/or Brown isn't ready to play many minutes.

I would like the staff to try and bring in another true SG in the next class, in the mold of a player like Demps or Lindsey.

I haven't seen enough of Isaiah Brown to know whether he'll be ready for significant minutes at the B1G level, but I suspect the majority of those minutes will come as a "shooting guard." He scored 5/6 of his teams' points in a recent game, which is downright Demps-ian (for better or for worse)!

that makes sense assumingbrown isnt ready. One problem, a PT told me that full recoveries from injuries like the one Law had are rare.
I think a lot of guys recover pretty well. Crawford did.

I'll say it again: this is the second labrum Vic has had. He recovered well enough from the first one that most noone even knew he had the problem!

Did he have surgery the first time? I don't recall hearing about it. THat said, if he had problems with both shoulders, likely something structurally wrong restricted him and that once corrected might actually even make him better.

losing demps will hurt. Ash and brown will be young. Can Rap or Falzon bring the ball up along with lindsey?
I don't think losing Demps will hurt. He has been valuable because he has athleticism that we were always short of in BC recruiting. But you took the good with the bad. Low FG and 3 pt % and lack of assists. With the recruits that CCC brings in, it is unlikely that we will be as short of athletes as we were. I would guess that the guys that replace him will shoot at higher % and be more likely to get assists and overall the O is likely to improve. Probably the D as well.

OK, I couldn't help but chuckle at this one. Be careful Turk!

Don't see why a torn labrum would be hard to come back from. I'd imagine the issue would be more an arthritic shoulder later in life. Not lower body so athleticism should be just fine

would it even be arthritic? That generally has to do more with the bone and joint than it does with muscles doesn't it?

the labrum isnt a muscle, its a cup of cartilage that helps stabilize the head of the humerus in the shoulder joint. with any surgery, inflammation, or damage to a joint, a risk is arthritis later in life. but yeah, my point is i dont see why he should be limited for the rest of his playing career. not an ACL or achilles tear or anything that would slow him down too much

And this labrum tear is to his left shoulder, and since Vic is right handed it shouldn't be much of an issue at all.

Guys come back from ACLs all the time. Takes about 18 months to fully recover and get the strength back . Achillies would appear to be more of an issue.
