Who has the scoop on Rap?

Time for an update. Haas broke his elbow and is off to surgery. He improved all his stats but definitely not Swanigan levels. But, I have contended that I think Haas will be a better NBA player than Swanigan. At this point, post injury, Haas will be lucky to get drafted but most agree that he will end up in a NBA camp next fall, so we'll see.

Meanwhile up at the NBA, Swany was demoted to the G League and tore it up down there and is back in Portland. His numbers aren't pretty - but as a first round draft pick, he probably gets another season or two to figure it out.

I think this is still too close to call. Haas might not make it to the NBA, but if he does, Swany has not the set the bar high for rookie year performance.. Stay tuned...
The problem with Haas is, he doesn't block shots or rebound. Hard to see him as a factor in the NBA, but you can't teach 7'2" 285 #s!! He wasn't the college player Evan Eschmeyer was, and Esch was only a journeyman NBA'er.

I might be wrong here, but I think he is younger than Esch. And I think the NBA big man coaching plus the different rules and styles in the NBA give him a chance. I don't think he will be a big factor, probably not a starter, but a journeyman type.

I think he still gets drafted. Bones take about 6 weeks and then still a fair amount of time before the draft to show that he has recovered. Haas will still have a decent future in the NBA

He was not really asked to be the College player Esch was. They had plenty of other weapons that we did not have

I would be amazed if he goes undrafted. It seems every year at least two or three guys get drafted with almost no skill set other than really tall.

Whether he has any kind of long term career is a different question.

Haas won't make it in the NBA, I'd be chocked if he is drafted. At a maximum, he projects to be similar to Boban marjonovic https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boban_Marjanović

For those who don't know Boban, he is actually the most efficient scorer in the NBA this season if you lower the requirement for field goals attempted. Yet he frequently is DNP in the box score and tends not to play more than 10 minutes when he does make it into a game. The reason he doesn't see the floor despite being an extremely efficient post scorer is he simply cannot fit in an NBA defense. In a league that increasingly features bigs that can space the floor and drive the lane, Boban's slow 7' 4" body can't keep up. Haas, while also an efficient post scorer, will experience the same fate due to his lumbering frame.
