I'm only considering players who played MOST of their Wildcat career between 2010-2019.

I have no problem with Shurna because he was a big part of turning this program around. That said Pardon will always be my boy during that era... he was the best athletic big man I've seen in NU jersey and was so good in the post on both sides of the ball.

Shurna without a doubt. I loved watching guys like Pardon, Mac, etc. but Shurna was on another level.

What you have there is a pretty dangerous NU team. I'd love to watch a season featuring in-their-primes BMac, Drew, Vic, John, and Dererk. I think they'd win a few games.

It's Shurna and it's not even close. I'm actually quite surprised that Drew, BMac, Vic and Dererk got so much love. Very good players for us but none were as versatile or as impactful.

Keep in mind you can vote up to five! So a lot of people picked more than one. Was hoping to be able to see an "all-2010s team" take shape with the voting. I agree that if I had to pick one it would be Shurna and he'd probably get more than the rest put together.

Ah that makes more sense. When in doubt, assume I’m a dummy

Conference-only stats for consideration ...

Law - 10.6 p 6.1 r 95.6 Ortg 101.6 Drtg B10 all defense

BMac - 12.6 p 3 r 5.3-2.5 a-to 99 Ortg 110.6 Drtg

Shurna - 14.7 p 4.1 r 112.6 Ortg 112.8 Drtg All B10

Thompson - 12.3 p 1.8 r 4-1.8 a-to 114 Ortg 116.4 Drtg All B10

Crawford - 12.7 p 4.6 r 97.4 Ortg 110 Drtg

Pardon - 10.6 p 6.8 r 122.7 Ortg 98.4 Drtg

Advanced stats are missing on at least the first two years of Shurna, Thompson and Crawford. The lack of freshman+ stats doesn't drag down those numbers.

I didn't think much of the votes for Pardon but look at that Ortg/Drtg compared to the others.

All these guys gave their all for the program. The guys who got to the tournament would get my edge in a vote if I had clicked on it.

Since the definition of the vote was fairly vague, I'd vote for Law to be the best Wildcat. He was the first to take the leap with Collins. And it's well documented he was a pretty active recruiter for that group. His value went far beyond the court.

I would’ve put Hearn for consideration over Lumpkin. That guy was such a baller.

If I’m not mistaken, Hearn and Law were the only ones to make an NBA roster, yeah?

Shurna #1, and Drew Crawford #2. Crawford was one of the few Cats players all time who could have started on the wing for a P5 standout program. As I recall, there was speculation that he would transfer for his 5th year to play for one of those high-profile programs. He didn't, and stayed to help build the program, which is a credit to him.

I would say BMac as he was the straw that stirred the drink. Law was most versatile and most important recruit getting us to dance

It's Shurna.

Though in terms of most important recruits (of recent history), it's Juice (started the local run with Shurna, Crawford) and Pardon.

Juice set the stage for the back-to-back-to-back-to-back post season appearances (should have been 5, but for injuries), which set the stage for the hiring of CC.

Pardon was the missing piece at the 5 the Cats haven't had in a loving time - an athletic 5 who was a plus presence on D and who could play around the basket with greater efficiency (missed bunnies had long been a bugaboo).

If Cobb had been able to stay healthy, he would've been at the Crawford level.

Hearn is oft undervalued, but for 2 seasons he was pretty good (better than that for 1), so I'd rate him higher than Lindsey.

Only played one season for the Cats, but Swop was pretty darn good at the 4 despite having a lanky build (that team with Swop, Crawford, Hearn, Cobb and a frosh Olah could have been something).

Absolutely. Lumpkin was only good in his 5th season. Tough kid but not close to Hearn.

Voted for Shuna due to prolific scoring and an BMac due to expertise and aggressiveness at point guard. Team fell apart for years after BMac graduated and was not efffectively replaced.
