Got to take care of business this weekend. 10 wins gets us the tourney most likely. 11 guarantees it. We have to start 4-2 and get 1 out of the next 4 games (at Maryland, at Indiana, MSU, at Iowa). That puts us 5-5 with 8 games to go.

Minnesota W
At OSU L
Illinois W
@Purdue toss up (they're good, but we got 3 big men to go at them)
@michigan L
Rutgers W
@PSU W
Nebraska W

There's not a lot of room for error there. If we can get 2 of 4 during the tough 4 game stretch, I think we're for sure in. A loss to Wisconsin or Penn State would mean/will mean we'll have no room for error during the last 8 games.

I don't think 10-8 will or should get NU into the NCAA. Not with the schedule we played and not with the B10 this year.

I think it gives us a chance going into the Big Ten tournament. A lot of factors might come into play such as small conference tourney upsets, etc., but I think 10-8 puts us in the conversation, especially if one of the ten is in the top four of the Big Ten.

10-8 gives us 22 wins overall, and, assuming that we sweep the teams ranked below us, will gives as at least one marquee win vs. a top-tier BIG team. If we lose one to the teams ranked below us, that would mean we would have two marquee wins. That, and a 23rd win in the BTT, would almost certainly get us in, imo.

Remember, we're dealing with the expanded field here, and since the field was expanded, I suspect that no team in a power-5 with 23 wins has been excluded.

As always, there's not any set number that makes us a lock to get in or out of the tournament. All depends on the bubble and the overall resume and who the wins come against. Right now we're 15-3 and not even one of the last 8 out in a 68 team field. About 6-7 years ago we had 17 regular season wins and needed maybe 1 more at Ohio State to get in because of the quality of teams we beat.
I know it's fun to speculate but makes sense to focus on Penn State and win that game first.

I think we win at Ohio State. We couldn't have played worse the first time we played them and still had a shot.

I think we need to go 11-7 with a couple of quality wins (top 25 teams) to get in the tourney. That'd put us at 24-8. It would help to win at least one in the BTT too.

We need to beat Maryland or MSU or even Iowa, just need to get a resume building win. I would rather beat Maryland and lose to Illinois that the reverse.

This is exactly how I'm looking at things.

I'm just going to enjoy the ride. It rarely ever plays out the way you think but as long as we get in the Big Dance I don't care how we do it. Just got to keep overcoming the jinx.
