Is it true that Wisconsin has been to 18 straight NCAA tournaments? Kind of puts things in perspective.

Badgers are going to be good next season, assuming Hayes returns. Will be experienced and talented. Could see them as pre-season Big 10 favorites.

I saw Gonzaga has been to 18 straight too - I remember when no one knew what Gonzaga was except the few who knew it was where Stockton played

It seems to me that our opinion of B1G BB is generally inflated.

I was talking about this with a bud. Quite often, I think people are somewhat still stuck in past B10 eras. This is no longer the league of Keady, Knight, Heathcote, Davis, Henson and some combo of Michigan coaches. There's a lot of tournaments in that group from the days when there were only 16 teams. There's also a ton of Elite Eights and beyond.

Hell, Clem Haskins was on the outside of this group and he has an Elite 8, a Sweet 16 and a Final Four on his resume.

The present group of B10 coaches has Izzo, Matta and the recently-departed Bo. Maybe we put Crean in that group? But beyond that, there's a bunch of coaches who may be lucky to have a Sweet 16, much less a championship.

I think Belein deserves to be included at the top as well.

This is a league that had two of the final four last year. I don't think I'm ready to throw myself off a bridge about B1G basketball just yet. If we tend to have an inflated view of B1G basketball, there is also a tendency to think we suck every time things break badly. I think Izzo is great coach, too, but wasn't he the guy who was just upset by a 15 seed after a lot of people picked MSU to win the whole thing. Bill Self, whom I'd also posit is a pretty decent coach, didn't reach the final four with the overall number one seed.

Not a great March, but we did win the Big 10 ACC challenge. It's not like we aren't competitive with the best.

NO mention of MSU or Izzo so far in this thread. Next year isn't totally sorted out, but MSU could easily be the conference favorite if Deyonta Davis stays. They have by far the top recruiting class in the conference already, and are in the top 3 for rivals' top recruit on top of that. As great as Valentine and Forbes were, athletically, they are gaining much more than they are losing.
