Women’s Golf Championship

Just had the unexpected pleasure of running into Emily Fletcher, coach of NU women’s golf team, and player Elise Lee. Both were very engaging. I’ve got a “meeting” here at the Omni in Carlsbad, CA, which is the site of the NCAA championships. Go Cats!
The Crossings at Carlsbad is a very good public course , next to LegoLand. The "holes" on the hill side of #7 are not gopher holes = rattlesnakes

Lady Cats Golf team is SECOND at the NCAA Championships after Day 2.

Stanford leads at 571
Northwestern is second at 576
Oregon is third at 577

The championship tournament runs four days, so hopefully, the Cats can keep it up today and tomorrow.

Cats are the #3 seed and will be matched up against #6 Arkansas in round one of match play tomorrow. It'll be live on Golf Channel.

Cats vs. Oregon tomorrow. Both won thrillers today. Love match play golf.
A thriller for sure. How about Hsin Tai Lin? All she did was take on the Championship's individual champion - Maria Marin - and take her down 3&2 in a start to finish victory. And Elise Lee would not be denied. Down 3 holes at the turn, she beat Reagan Zibilski 4-0 on the back side to pull out the 1 up point for the Cats. Then there's Lauryn Nguyen. Match play can be downright cruel at times. Lauryn was playing well, up 2 with 3 to play for the individual point and team win. But she posted bogeys on 7 and 9 to end her match in regulation tied. To make matters worse, her sudden death playoff for all the marbles started on 7, where her nightmare collapse just a few moments ago began. But she showed some serious grit by putting all that behind her and winning the match for the Cats on the 19th hole of her match.

Cats skin the Razorbacks. A team that came into the Championship as the 2nd seed behind only Stanford.

On to the Final Four.

This is compelling. Cats lead a good team.
Stanford and FSU teed off first, not surprised their back nine televised first, since closing holes finish matches.

Stanford wins and heads to finals.

Cats up 2-1 right now! In last 2 matches, up 2 and down 2. If it holds, we advance to finals vs Stanford.
