Boo Buie National Defensive Player of the Year

Hope he enjoys it. It at least puts him and us more on the map, which cannot hurt. But, I can only imagine what my PC Friar son will say when he realizes Devin Carter did not get this.

I saw that and thought it was a joke.
It's real, but also crazy.

Naismith has 15 players on their Defensive Player of the Year list - and Boo isn't one of them.
But Ace Baldwin is. He won the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year.
NABC gave the award to Houston guard Jamal Shead. Houston obviously a great defensive team.

Evan Miya makes an attempt at player ratings, breaking a guy's value into offense and defense.
His top player defensively is UConn's Donovan Clingan, followed by Houston's Jamal Shead.
He's got Buie #67 in the Big Ten, behind Nicholson (#30) Barnhizer (#32) and even Langborg (#63)

Admittedly, there is a lot of complexity in defensive ratings from stats, but come on now, almost everybody knows Boo Buie is not a top defensive guard, much less the best defender in America. Improved? Definitely. Elite? Definitely not.
