End of the Prime mystique

I'm a fan of Coach Prime, but I can see how others are put off by his bravado. But I don't see how one can credibly argue that he has been bad for Colorado and Colorado football. More applicants and more donor support is real currency in higher education.

And if the Buffs flatline after Coach Prime leaves, that's more on the AD and administration than Sanders. In this brave new world, no coach is a lifer any more.

Game Thread: Northwestern vs. Wisconsin

Launch was not very good today. He missed on some plays that he could have made. The one glaring miss for me was the missed TD pass to a wide open Kirtz on a crosser in the Wisconsin red zone. I believe we got 3 on that drive but should have been 7. Conversely he made some plays with his legs without any help whatsoever and had some pretty good throws that could have been caught. He had a really nice deep throw to Kurtz off his fingertips that would have been a tough catch but one he probably should have made. Also Gordon dropped an easy one that probably killed another drive not to mention the OL play being the worst it has been all season. Definitely a step back from what we saw at Maryland but that’s what happens when you play a much better opponent, have your 2nd best WR out for most of the game and play essentially three first time starters on the interior for most of the game.
I agree with all this basically. The Kirtz miss in the end zone resulted in the blocked FG. That was right after the bad FG attempt decision that was followed by Wisconsin going down and scoring. Huge swing of points in that series from a few decisions and executions here and there. Could easily have been 10-7 or 10-0 at halftime in our favor, but that’s what happened when you have a young QB with no offensive margin for error.

Probably lose regardless but...

My observation is that he is being coached to only read a quarter of the field. He never climbs to read the middle. He slides out of the pocket, looking for his pre-snap determined target whom he locks on at the snap. On one play in the third when we were 3rd &6, I believe, he attempted to throw a go route. However, Wisconsin knew that this was the target and aggressively jammed that receiver and the ball was thrown 15 yards ahead of the line receiver. In the second half, I saw a Wisconsin defense that decided to "identify" the predetermined target and take it away by jamming or quickly bringing the safety over and bringing pressure to the QB's face. I afraid that teams have identified this weakness and will increasingly make passing the ball more difficult for us. The coaches have to get him to, at the least, read half the field. We have to threaten the defense in the middle of the field.
Also our guys aren’t scary down the field for a good defense like Wisconsin and so you can just name them and play downhill

Maryland 29 - USC 28

Shoot, we might need to make a play for Cignetti at some point if the Braun era doesn't work out. The inconsistency of play stems from poor coaching. I know we are lacking in the talent area as well, but damn, there is no consistency at all with regards to the offense. We have spats of productive play, then we suck. I was hoping for an innovative offense that would bring in better talent. Not seeing it thus far. i know we have to give the fellas more time, but not impressed thus far. Hopefully another season or two they will get things straight.
Inconsistency is what happens when you have a very young qb, a very badly injured and poor O line, and outside WRs who don’t threaten anybody

Lausch is still a work in progress. His biggest problem is the speed of processing his reads. There were actually people open in this game, but he was too late in recognizing this.
