As of noon eastern time, there were 40 "votes" cast. People were focused on Pardon and Eschmeyer for good reason. Had the minimum field goal attempts been set at 150 (instead of 100) then Pardon and Esch would have finished first and second.

But the answer to this question is Matt Nicholson.

Really hoping Nicholson gets more scoring opportunities this season because there is no reason to expect his efficiency to decrease dramatically with more field goal attempts. Not to mention the fouls he can draw.

Interesting NIL Perspective

Was on a call with an FCS HC earlier this week and a question was asked about the guys on the roster from Florida, how they were doing etc., and it led to an interesting comment:

The school’s NIL collective was able to step in and help a couple of the families in evacuation areas with some of their expenses, ie, put them in a hotel instead of some school gym, help pay for the gas, a couple got satellite phones to stay in touch, little things like that. It was cited as one of the positive things NIL allows programs to do for their players and families now.

Different level of ball than the million dollar contracts at the power conference level, but a reminder what positive impact the players being able to receive money from the sport can be.
Memories of anecdotal horror stories from decades ago. “They bring in millions of dollars for the university, but we couldn’t even buy him a plane ticket for his grandmother’s funeral.”

Some of the hypocrisy is being removed. I understand lots of people hate that these players have even more freedom than pros at this point, but it’s because they were starting from a century of no freedom, of indentured servitude, and the public finally realized the absurdity of the system.

Expect lighter than usual moderation for the next few days...

Unfortunately I've got an appointment under the knife tomorrow to fix a fractured clavicle from a biking accident, so I'm likely to be a bit out of it for a few days.

Fortunately God has a sense of humor, given that the 'Cats are playing on Yom Kippur Friday night, so I expect you all to follow tradition and think about all of the terrible things you've done over the past year, such as watching a Friday night NU football game for example, and seek forgiveness from those who you have wronged. I expect it to be a proper kumbaya scene when I get back in action.
It's a relatively easy procedure. The worst part is what you have already been through. Had the same procedure after taking a motorcycle roll off my horse 12 years ago.

Maryland Game Roll Call

I’m going. Section 204. Lot C1. I’m going to the NU Alum DC Chapter tailgate at the track complex southwest of the stadium. I’d rather do my own tailgate but I don’t have time to pick up everything and drive down.
Is that event open to all NU alums?
My daughter is heading down for the game with some of her NU friends.

Really good X thread on the fan base/temp stadium ticket situation

Exactly. If we had a huge fan base in Chicago it would be a different story.
Northwestern does have a school that caters to locals. The University College/School of Continuing Studies/School of Professional Studies, or whatever they call it now, graduates hundreds of undergrads every year (not to mention professional degrees), and they are primarily Chicago locals. If nothing else, they should try to get them go to games with their families.

When I went to grad school at another Big Ten school, they tried very hard to get us involved with going to football games, more than they did when I was an undergrad at NU. It is especially effective at creating fans, especially if they did not go to a school with a major football program for undergrad.

I don't believe Northwestern does much to try get those people to games. Free tickets, food, and drinks would probably go a long way to getting people to the games, and hopefully they become fans. Shoot, if you offered free food and admission to the grad school students anywhere at Northwestern, I think it would be hard to keep them away. When I was in grad school, the students were always on the lookout for functions they could mooch off of. LOL
