WLP Big Ten Summer Previews - Nebraska

"I thought I was dead. Turns out I was just Previewing Nebraska."

This isn't fun. Nebraska might be good again.

We at WLP take pride in how well we have pegged Nebraska over the past decade in the face of national opinion. Well...if we're right THIS YEAR, we'll take zero pleasure in it.

We see a team with a great defense (especially against the run), an exciting freshman QB, excellent coaching, and an extremely favorable schedule.

Brace yourselves. We might be hearing a lot about the Huskers this year:rolleyes:

Texas getting the NWU treatment

Poor Texas is being labeled TEX in the SEC while Tennessee gets UT. Sound familiar? Here is an idea. Why not settle this on the field? Make this an annual protected game in the B1G and the SEC and the winner gets to use it's preferred letters (NU or UT) from when the clock hits 0:00 until the end of next year's game. If you think players get excited over the Land of Lincoln Trophy, imagine how excited players would be to fight for their school letters? Besides, it would create a new, fun, and instant rivalry game for both the B1G and the SEC. In my mind, that is so much better than just making one team the red-headed step-child. If you want to be called NU or UT, earn it on the field.

FOOTBALL What to watch for at Big Ten Media Days

Big Ten Media Days start tomorrow and I'll be there to represent WildcatReport. Here are a few things for each of Northwestern's representatives, coach and players, to keep an eye on.

NCAA Football '25 and NU -- old Ryan Field lives for one more year.

Used to love this game (Sutton era) and it's back.

I'm sure the Cats will be undervalued and under-rated by the game metrics but no surprise there.

They apparently have ultra-realistic stadiums. And it looks like we get one more year of old Ryan Field -- in the game. See Login to view embedded media
My son has a copy of the game -- I'll check it out in the next few days and give a report unless noone else does.

Ten Questions: 4. Will Northwestern have a home field advantage?

For the fourth question in our Ten Questions series, can the Wildcats replicate the stingy defense of their home turf from 2023 at temporary sites in 2024?

Reported NU hoops offers (6/19) (1 down, 4 to go):

Ok, Collins offers 2 centers and lands a commit from NU grad Wendy Mitchell's son (his dad played at Illinois, was an NBA lottery pick by the Hornets, and now works in studio for the Bulls but we all know he learned everything from his NU grad mom). WLP Big Ten Summer Previews - Penn State

Did Penn State blow its shot?

A team that was statistically dominant on both offense and defense effectively no-showed on O when it counted last year. Now the Nittany Lions wave goodbye to a generational combination of defensive talent and defensive coaching.

But Penn State made an inspired replacement at DC, has a friendly schedule, still boasts a bevy of talent of both sides of the ball, and has ELITE running backs. Can Drew Allar take the next step?
