I agree with this. Hiring him as the DC was risky, but a reasonable risk that probably would have paid off. But then, everyone got caught up in the emotion of last year and a rash decision was made to hire him as permanent head coach. How could he possibly be ready for a job like that? He's never been a head coach and he wasn't even a coordinator at an FBS program. You're asking the impossible of David Braun!
It's one thing to lead a bunch of the previous guy's recruits with the previous guy's coaches onto the field and keep them motivated to get through a season. That is one thing and he did a great job at it. It's another thing entirely, however, to be the CEO of a major college program and be in charge of it all including bringing in players and hiring the right coaches.
