Peter and Brandon make The Athletic All Freshman team:

OT Peter Skoronski, Northwestern: Skoronski came in with big-time hype after 247Sports rated him as a five-star and the nation’s No. 27 overall player. The in-state recruit had to live up to that right away when projected first-rounder Rashawn Slater opted out for the season. No problem. Skoronski took over the starting left tackle job, started every game, played like a veteran and received second-team All-Big Ten recognition from conference media. He’s well on his way to becoming one of the very best linemen in college football.

S Brandon Joseph, Northwestern: Joseph showed everyone why he was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year last Saturday with his one-handed pick in the end zone against Justin Fields and Ohio State in the conference title game. That was Joseph’s FBS-leading sixth interception of the season, and the redshirt freshman did it in just eight games while adding 49 tackles. This was a great take by Northwestern’s staff, a three-star from College Station, Texas, who backed off a pledge to Texas Tech and took his talents to the Midwest. He has played about as well as any safety in the country this fall.
