Anthony (Tre) Tyus III

Got himself 27 carries at 5.6 a clip for 151 yds and a MAC conference championship and a bowl game somewhere. Always liked ATIII....Cant wonder how we would have fared if we had kept the band together.
Loved the kid. Would never have that kind if success against OSU or Michigan.

He would have been helpful. But then so would Priebe and Senda, Gill and others. This has been the danger and we are having yet another exodus this year,

We are not having “another exodus.” We’ve had 3 meaningful departures.

Tyus would have helped this year. Komo seemed a little better later in the year but he was pretty poor a lot of the year and Himon isn't an every-down guy despite his genuine explosiveness. It would have been a lifesaver to have Tyus in the games Porter was hurt, which were some of the closer games, or to spell Porter on the goal line.
The portal doesn’t officially open until tomorrow.

“Three best players” is also pushing it.
It's pretty close to the three best returning players, unfortunately. Puts us in a hole with our big NIL warchest, Braun needs countering impact players for each of them.

I feel pretty good about the young talent in the secondary.

If they get a bunch of impact players and none are in the secondary and somebody wants to make the argument that we feel okay there and wanted to point resources elsewhere, sure, okay, I would accept that.

The NIL and admissions news simply means the bar for this stretch is now higher. The roster needs to be a lot better in a few weeks that it was at the end of the season, and we already went backwards a bunch. Expectations for Braun are higher and excuses are lower.

Couple of stretches there but OK. So we have B1G talent. Guess we should be set up to win with a coaching staff that knows how to coach talent 🤷‍♂️

Michigan has 6 departures. Purdue has perhaps 20
Were the Michigan departures meaningful??? were they starters that they have a hard time replacing or guys leaving to get playing time? Purdue just let go their coach and that tends to lead to a lot of guys choosing to go elsewhere

Is it the skill of our OL that’s the problem? The coaching? The schemes? Why does NU always seem to have a terrible OL, season after season?
We need 5 solid guys plus depth. We seem to always have 2 or 3 above-average linemen, but you're only as good as your weakest link. We recently sent two guys to the NFL as first rounders - Slater and Skoronski - and Priebe got picked by Michigan and was a solid starter for them all year. Now we have Thompson getting wooed by the likes of dOSU and Michigan in the portal. Tiernan is an upper tier LT, we must hold on to him. We need at least one more solid interior lineman through the portal, two more preferred.
